El Aaiun (occupied territories), June 24, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation authorities proceeded to put out of sight of the MEPs delegation the Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Lekhal prison in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, according to a statement of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

Pennsylvania, June 23, 2013 (SPS) - A new book about the Saharawi-Moroccan conflict under the title “War and Insurgency in the Western Sahara” has recently issued by the Strategic Studies Institute of the U.S. Army War College.


The 110-page book examines with study and in-depth historical analysis the most important periods in the conflict of Western Sahara between Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco.

El Aaiun (occupied territories), June 23, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation police and security forces violently dispersed Saturday a peaceful demonstration calling for the independence of Western Sahara in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, according to some media sources.


Hundreds of demonstrators poured into the street of Smara in occupied city of El Aaiun in a response to an appeal made by the coordination of Saharawi human rights organizations.

El Aaiun (occupied territories), June 23, 2013 (SPS) - A MEPs delegation from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats met Saturday with members of the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA).


The meeting focused on the miserable situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.


CODESA called to find a speedy solution to question of Western Sahara, through conducting a just and transparent referendum that respects the will of Saharawi people.

Issue of human rights in Western Sahara debated at European Parliament

Brussels, June 22, 2013 (SPS) - The Rapporteur Mr. Charles Tannock presented Thursday, June 20, his report on the situation of human rights in Western Sahara and the Sahel, to the Committee on Human Rights of the European Parliament, said the Saharawi Minister Delegate for Europe Mr. Mohamed Sidati.


 A very large majority of MEPs have expressed satisfaction for the report, describing it as “comprehensive and objective.”

Bir Lahlou, June 20, 2013 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, called upon the United Nations to intervene "urgently" to put an end to the practices of "repression and brutality" of the Moroccan occupation State against the Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in a letter sent Thursday to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon.

 

Human Rights Watch calls on Morocco to release Sahrawi “Gdaim Izik” Group political prisoners

New York, June 21, 2013 (SPS) - Human Rights Watch has called on the Moroccan authorities to release Saharawi political prisoners, “Gdaim Izik” Group,  or grant them a new and fair trial, in a report issued today Friday.

 

HRW insisted that “For the Gdeim Izik defendants, any retrials should take place before a civilian court rather than in the military court that first convicted them”

 

Saharawi political prisoner "Yahya Mohamed Al Hafed Iaaza" Transfered back to the hospital

Occupied Aiun, June 20, 2013(SPS)- the prison administration of the local prison of Ait Melloul was forced to transfer the Saharawi political prisoner "Yahya Mohamed Al Hafed Iaaza" to regional hospital Inzagan  following the deterioration of his health, says CODESA

 

The administration of the said prison had moved the Saharawi political prisoner to the hospital, on June 12, 2013 under tight security Moroccan gendarmerie.

Algeria requires respect for its position on Western Sahara for the reopening of its border with Morocco

Algiers, June19, 2013 (SPS) - The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Amar Balani, said Wednesday that Algeria requires, as a condition, respect for its position on Western Sahara for the reopening of its borders with Morocco, "we consider an incomplete decolonization process that must be resolved within the framework of the United Nations, in accordance with international law".
