El Aaiun: Saharawi civil society organizations hold meeting with MEPs delegation

Dakhla (occupied territories), June 24, 2013 (SPS) - The delegation of European parliamentarians, currently in the occupied Western Sahara, met Sunday in occupied El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, with several Saharawi associations and organizations that work for the preservation of environment and natural resources in the occupied city of Dakhla, informed the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

The meeting attended by the associations of Al-Nour, Al-Gandhil and Nawrass (Association of Sailors working onboard Fishing Vessels).


The Saharawi associations presented evidences to the delegation that the Saharawi population in the territory, occupied by Morocco since 1975, do not benefit from the outcome of their natural resources.


The MEPs pledged to continue cooperation with the aforementioned associations.


On relevant context, the delegation also held Sunday evening a meeting in the occupied city of El Aaiun with Gdeim Izik Coordination of the Saharawi Marginalized Groups and the Trade Union Confederations of Saharawi Workers, in the aim to assess the economic, social and political situation in the territory.
