Saharawi children received by Mayor of Colmenar Viejo

Colmenar Viejo (Madrid, Spain), June 22, 2013 (SPS) - A group of 17 Saharawi children, who are currently in Madrid in the context of the “Holidays in Peace Programme”, received Thursday by the Mayor of Colmenar Viejo (Madrid) Mr. Miguel Angel Santamaria, in the presence of Councillor for Family and Social Services Ms. Carolina Calvo, according to Saharawi diplomatic source.


“It is an honor for us to welcome these children for two months and share with them these moments of their lives thanks to the generosity of Colmenar’s families who welcome them, taking care of them and treat them like their own children,” said Councillor Ms.Calvo.


This act was attended by most of the host families and several members of the Association of Friends of the Saharawi people in Colmenar Viejo.


The reception of these children is part of the activities planned within the twinning protocol signed in 2007with February 27th School, now the Wilaya Boujdour, to strengthen the ties between the two sides based on friendship, cooperation and solidarity of the two populations, the source said.
