US supports United Nations efforts to resolve Western Sahara issue (Ambassador)

Algiers, December 9, 2013 (SPS) - The U.S. ambassador in Algiers, Mr. Henry S. Ensher, confirmed Sunday in Algiers that the position of the United States on the question of Western Sahara has not changed, adding that his country has always supported the United Nations efforts in order to resolve this issue.

 

Call for support to Saharawi women’s fight for independence

BOUJDOUR (Saharawi Refugee Camps), December 8, 2013 (SPS) - The international conference on women’s role in liberation movements called Saturday, in the Sahrawi Refugee Camp of Boujdour, for an international support to Saharawi women in their fight for their country’s independence.

 

The participants, in their final communiqué, called "civil societies around the world to adhere to solidarity actions for peace and just causes, such as the Saharawi cause."

 

53 heads of State, government confirmed their presence at his funeral

JOHANNESBURG (South Africa), December 8, 2013 (SPS) - Fifty-three (53) heads of State and government confirmed their presence at Nelson Mandela’s funeral, South African’s International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane announced on Sunday.

 

US President Barack Obama, Brazilian Dilma Roussef and French François Hollande will participate in the tributes in the memory of the anti-apartheid and national reconciliation hero.

 

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will also be present.

 

Official ceremonies before Mandela’s burial

JOHANNESBURG (South Africa), December 8, 2013 (SPS) - The official ceremonies in South Africa before the burial, on Sunday 15 December, of former president and hero of the anti-apartheid struggle Nelson Mandela was announced Saturday by the South African authorities.

 

Condolence books will be opened in the town halls, ministries and all the South African diplomatic representations in the world.

Shaheed El Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps), December 8, 2013 (SPS) – President of the Republic Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz  travels Monday to South Africa, heading an important delegation, to participate in Nelson Mandela’s funeral cermonies, said an official source from the Presidency of the Republic.

 

The Presidency of the Republic had declared three days of mourning following the death of the global African icon, Nelson Mandela, died Thursday at 95 at his home in Johannesburg, South Africa.

WFDY reasserts right of Saharawi people to self-determination

Dozens injured during ‘violent’ intervention in occupied city of El Aaiun

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), December 8, 2013 (SPS) – Dozens of Sahrawi citizens were injured Saturday evening by the ‘violent’ intervention of the Moroccan occupation forces to break up a demonstration in Smara Street in the occuped city of el Aaiun, called for by the Coordination of Gdeim Izik, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

Over 150 African, European women stage sit-in against separation wall in Western Sahara

Office of National Secretariat warns against signing any agreement between EU and Morocco including Sahrawi territorial waters

Shaheed El Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps), December 7, 2013 (SPS)- The Office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front renewed the warning that the signing of the European Union to any agreement with the Kingdom of Morocco which includes Sahrawi territorial waters would be a flagrant violation of international law, in a statement following a meeting Saturday chaired by Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of the Republic, Secretary general of the Polisario front.

Johannesburg  (South Africa), December 7, 2013 (SPS) - Nelson Mandela, the hero of antiapartheid struggle, died Thursday at 95 at his home in Johannesburg, South Africa. The world's leaders have unanimously paid tribute to the courage, determination and the wisdom of the late South African leader.

 

Born on 18 July 1918, Rolihlahla Mandela, called affectionately called Madiba, devote all his life to the struggle for a multiracial South Africa, a Rainbow nation, as dreamt of by most of South Africans.

 

‘seeking veracity and objectivity … message of media’ (Conference)

Shaheed El Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps), December 7, 2013 (SPS) – The conference on the evaluation of the message of media will be held Monday in the Hall of the Ministry of Culture under the theme ‘seeking veracity and objectivity … the message of media,’ according to the organising committee.

 

Two papers will be presented in the conference, the first will be on news writing and the second on the programmes in the national media, indicated the same source.

 

SADR Presidency declares 3-day national mourning in Mandela's honour

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Dec 6, 2013 (SPS) - Presidency of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) declared a three-day national mourning in honour of the spirit of the African leader and former South African President, Nelson Mandela, who passed away yesterday evening.


On this painful occasion, Presidency of the Saharawi Republic ordered that flags been flown at half-staff and joys been cancelled as from Friday, 6 December 2013, in memory of the deceased African leader Nelson Mandela.

Mr. Jacob Zuma, President of the Republic of South Africa, following the passing away of the former president Nelson Mandela around 20h50 on December 5th, 2013.


“It was with overwhelming sadness and deep sorrow that we learnt about the death of Former President Nelson Mandela who died on Thursday at the age of 95,” writes President Mohamed Abdelaziz.

Culture Minister received by Algerian Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry

Algiers, Dec 5, 2013 (SPS)- The Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi received today in Algiers by the Algerian Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry Mr. Mohamed Amine Hadj-Said, said a media source from SADR embassy in Algiers.


The meeting focused on the bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries, and the ways to develop the areas of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the various fields related to culture of the two countries.

National Council endorses recommendations’ ground

June 9th School (refugee camps), Dec 5, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi National Council (Parliament) approved Thursday a range of recommendations which will form the basis for discussion and dealing with the government’s programme within the autumn session, underway since last week.


A parliamentary source told SPS that these recommendations focuses on national issues and concerns in various areas social, political, regulatory and media.

International community should force Morocco to clear mined Sahrawi lands, says Ould Salek

Morocco-EU fisheries agreement will amplify plunder of Saharawi wealth

Algiers, Dec 4, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi Minister of Cooperation Mr. Brahim Mojtar urged the European Parliament not to vote for the fisheries agreement with Morocco, declaring that is the agreement is concluded, it will only "amplify" the looting of Sahrawi wealth to more than $ 4.5 billion per year.
