Official ceremonies before Mandela’s burial

JOHANNESBURG (South Africa), December 8, 2013 (SPS) - The official ceremonies in South Africa before the burial, on Sunday 15 December, of former president and hero of the anti-apartheid struggle Nelson Mandela was announced Saturday by the South African authorities.

 

Condolence books will be opened in the town halls, ministries and all the South African diplomatic representations in the world.

Most of the key events will be broadcasted live on television during all this period and the South Africans, like the rest of the world, can follow them day to day,” said Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane.

 

A day of prayers and reflexion will be organized on December 8 across the country.

 

An "official tribute ceremony" and "State funeral service" in the presence of thousands of people and head of states and governments will be held Soweto. (SPS)
