BOUDJEDOUR (Saharawi refugee camps), December 7, 2013 (SPS) - African women supporting the Sahrawi cause called on for "the extension of solidarity chain with the Sahrawi woman, through new mechanisms aiming at acknowledging her just cause," during an international conference on "the role of woman in liberation movements."

During the meeting held in Boudjedour refugee camps attended by more than 150 women from African countries, NGOs from Spain and Italy, the speakers highlighted on "the urge to catalyze efforts of all African women supporting the Saharawi people to end their suffering through the organization of a free self-determination referendum."

Secretary General of Sahrawi women national union (UNFS) Fatma Mehdi said that "the participation of female symbols of issues of liberation in Africa in this conference, and their sit-in before the separation wall, is an African and international clear message to the international community and Moroccan colonial authorities to find a solution to the Saharawi cause, in respect with resolutions of the international legitimacy."
