Trade Union Confederation of Saharawi Workers holds talks with UN Envoy

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Oct 20, 2013 (SPS) - The Trade Union Confederation of Saharawi Workers, led by its Secretary General Sidi Ahmed Daya, held Saturday at MINURSO headquarters in the occupied city of El Aaiun a meeting with Mr. Christopher Ross, UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, as part of his tour in the region.


This meeting addressed several unresolved social, economic and political issues, especially those relating to the rights of Saharawi workers and the issue of natural resources.

Venezuelan poets express solidarity with Saharawi people

Caracas, Oct 20, 2013 (SPS) - A group of Venezuelan poets and artists have expressed solidarity, commitment and support to the Saharawi people, in an act organized by the Venezuelan poet Siboney del Rey and SADR embassy to mark the 38th anniversary of Saharawi National Unity Day, celebrated every October 12th, informed the Venezuelan Association of Solidarity with Western Sahara (ASOVESSA).


This act was attended by Miky Poche, Pedro Paracare, Carlos Zerpa, José Leonardo Riera, Henrique Millán, Dennys Garcés and the gitarist Miguel Regalado.

Coinciding with Ross visit: Moroccan forces violently crack down on Saharawi demonstration

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Oct 20, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan forces of occupation violently cracked down Saturday evening on a peaceful demonstration in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, in parallel with the visit of the UN Envoy for Western Sahara, reported the Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.


This peaceful demonstration comes in a response to a call by the Coordination of Saharawi Human Rights Organizations in Western Sahara.

UN Envoy meets with families of Saharawi political detainees

The Committee represented at this meeting by Fatimatu Dahwar and Ali Roubiu.

SADR ambassador to Mozambique presents his credentials

Maputo, Oct 19, 2013 (SPS) - Mr. Wadadi Cheikh Ahmed Lheiba presented Wednesday his credentials to H.E. Mr. Armando Emílio Guebuza, President of Mozambique, as an extraordinary ambassador of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) to this African country.


The ceremony was also attended by the Foreign Minister, as well as the advisors and assistants at the Mozambican Presidency.

PAP rotating president meets with Norwegian ambassadors

These talks focused on PAP’s mechanisms of action and functions, in addition to the challenges faced by the rest of the AU institutions.

Sermons and prayers will be organized on the occasions in all wilayas of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) to mark this holy day, as to pray for Allah the Almighty for victory, reunification and independence.

POLISARIO calls for new dynamic to organize referendum in Western Sahara

Saharawi government describes as “intransigent” Moroccan king’s speech

Bir Lahlou (liberated territories), Oct 14, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi Government has described the speech delivered Friday by the Moroccan King as “intransigent and a proof of the lack of political will and commitment as well as a disregard to international legitimacy.”


“The speech of the King of Morocco before Moroccan parliament ignores international efforts to find a solution to the Western Sahara conflict,” said the Saharawi government in a statement issued Saturday by the Ministry of Information.
