El Aaiun (occupied territories), Oct 19, 2013 (SPS) - The UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Mr. Christopher Ross held Saturday at MINURSO headquarters in occupied El Aaiun a meeting with the Committee of Families of Saharawi Political Detainees of Gdeim Izik, informed Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

The Committee represented at this meeting by Fatimatu Dahwar and Ali Roubiu.

The Representatives of the committee informed Ross about unfair trial against Gdeim Izik detainees, as well as circumstances behind their detention and the seriously miserable condition they live in.

They also called for more serious action to cancel the sentences against them as to unconditionally release all the Saharawi political prisoners, appealing to the United Nations Organizations to set up a mechanism to monitor and report about human rights in Western Sahara.

They, therefore, called for enabling the Saharawi people to exercise their right to self-determination. (SPS)
