Finland Communist Party invites government to recognize SADR

Helsinki (Finland), Jan 29, 2016 (SPS) - The central committee of Communist party of Finland (SKP) has called the Finnish government to recognize the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), expressing its solidarity with the Saharawi people in their struggle for self-determination.

 

The SKP called NGOs in Finland to support Saharawi people in their fight for self-determination and contribute to the development of the Saharawi society.

Helsinki, January 28, 2016 (SPS) - The Communist Party of Finland, asked on Monday the government of his country for the recognition of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

  

The Communist Party expressed its full support for peaceful struggle in Western Sahara led by Polisario Front to the self-determination of the Saharawi people.

 

AU reiterates need to determine a date for the referendum in Western Sahara

Addis Ababa, January 28, 2016 (SPS) - The African Union (AU) on Wednesday reiterated the need to determine a date for the holding of referendum on self-determination of the Saharawi people and insisted on renewing efforts to find a solution to a conflict that has lasted four decades.

  

At its ordinary meeting of the Permanent Representatives, the AU called on the UN to set a date for the referendum on self-determination for Saharawi people.

 

Human Rights Watch denounces decline of tolerance for dissident voices in Morocco, occupied Western Sahara

Washington(U.S.A) January 28, 2016 (SPS) - The Non-Governmental organization, Human Rights Watch said Wednesday, in its annual report on Human Rights, that the tolerance for dissident voices in Morocco and Western Sahara diminished during 2015.

 

Authorities blocked events organized by the outspoken Moroccan Human Rights Association (AMDH), filed charges against five activists for “harming internal security” after they organized a foreign-funded workshop on citizen journalism, said the NGO, whose headquarters is in Washington.

 

Dutch parliament terminates social security agreement with Morocco over Western Sahara occupation

The Hague, January 28, 2016 (SPS) -   The Dutch Parliament voted for the one-sided cancellation of the social security convention with Morocco after Rabat request to expand the payment of the family allowances to the beneficiaries living in Morocco to include the occupied Sahrawi territories.

At least 91 members of the Dutch Parliament voted for the termination of this agreement, concluded on 14 February 1972, while 56 voices were against the cancellation.

Postponement of Sahrawi political prisoner trial Embarek Daoudi

Agadir (Morocco), January 27, 2016 (SPS) - The Court of Appeal in the Moroccan city of Agadir postponed the trial of Sahrawi political prisoner Embarek Daoudi until February 08 2016, reported the Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA).

 

According to the same source, Embarek Daoudi has entered the Plenary Hall chanting slogans demanding self-determination and Independence of Sahrawi people.

Sahrawi President receives Nigerian outgoing ambassador

CISP organizes a round table about its strategy for the year 2016

Chahid Hafed, January 26, 2016 (SPS) – the Italian Committee For Solidarity between People  organization (CISP) organized on Tuesday round table on its strategy for the year 2016 for coordination and promotion of food supplies to Saharawi refugees in cooperation with the Sahrawi Red Crescent.


In his speech, the head of Saharawi Red Crescent Buhabaini Yahia Buhabaini said that “the organization of this table in the headquarter of SRC reflects the excellent level of cooperation and solidarity between the two organizations”

Stockholm(Sweden), January 26, 2016 (SPS) - The Swedish minister of Foreign Affairs, Margot Wallstrom said that “Sweden’s position is unchanged vis-à-vis the issue of occupied Western Sahara.”.

El Aaiun (occupied territories), January 25, 2016 (SPS) Moroccan repressive forces intervened brutally on Saturday to disperse a peaceful demonstration, organized in the occupied city of El Aaiun by Sahrawi human rights activists to demand the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, indicated Sahrawi human rights source.

 

Elements of the police and auxiliary forces in uniform and plainclothes besieged the venue where the event took place, before intervening forcefully to disperse peaceful protesters, added the same source.

FM partakes in ministerial meeting in preparation of AU Summit

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Jan 25, 2016 (SPS) Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Salek arrived Sunday in Mekele, Ethiopia, to participate in a meeting of African Foreign Ministers in preparation of the African Union summit.

 

This three-day meeting is devoted to "implementing Agenda 2063 through the examination of different priority actions identified by the heads of State in terms of development of the continent, strengthening of African capacity and rationalization of working methods of the AU."

Shaheed El Hafed, January 25, 2016 (SPS) The Secretary General of the Saharawi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hamdi Abaiha, received Sunday the Nigerian Ambassador to the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Haruna Ginsau, after the end of his duties.

 

In a statement to the national press, the outgoing Ambassador of Nigeria expressed great satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries, Nigeria and SADR, recalling that his country has always supported the right of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence.

Solidarity caravan to Saharawi refugees in Tamentfoust rest centre in Algiers

Algiers, Jan 24, 2016 (SPS) - A solidarity caravan has been organized Saturday to provide aid to Saharawi refugees at a rest centre in Tamentfoust, Algiers.

 

Initiated by ANIS Youth Association, the caravan is meant to show support to the Saharawi cause, said Adel Lahbib, the chairman of the association.

 

The aid consists in blankets, food, clothes, shoes, in addition to presents for ill children and medicines.

 

Three work teams have been formed, as part of the initiative, to restore and renovate the rest facility.

 

President of PDC parliamentary group reaffirms support for right of Saharawi people to self-determination

Ljubljana, January 23, 2016 (SPS) - The president of the parliamentary group of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), Mr. Matej Tonin, reaffirmed its full support to the right of the Saharawi people for self-determination.

 

He stressed that " for Slovenia, this principle is sacred and enshrined in the Constitution" during a meeting with the representative of the Frente POLISARIO, Malainin Bagada, the Polisario representation in Slovenia reported in a press.
