Parliamentarians in Bundestag call on international community to assume responsibility in Western Sahara conflict

Berlin, 22/01/16 (SPS) - Parliamentarians in Bundestag Kerstin Tack (SPD) and Katja Keul (Alliance 90/ The Greens) have called on the international community to assume its responsibility in the conflict in Western Sahara, according to a press release issued following the four-day visit to the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

After analyzing the situation of conflict and conditions of the Saharawi refugees, the German parliamentarians declare:

 

UNMS participates in XX Congress of Indian women Federation

Vishakhapatnam (India), January 23, 2016 (SPS) - A delegation of the National Union of Sahrawi women (UNMS) headed by its General Secretariat, Ms. Fatma El Mehdi, took part Friday in the XX Congress of the Federation of Indian women (IMF), in Vishakhapatnam city, Indian.

 

The Congress was attended by more than 800 delegates representing different communities of India and more than 17 delegations representing Asia Europe, United States, Latin America and Africa, reported sources of the UNMS.

 

Moroccan forces launch campaign of arrests in occupied Boujdour

Boujdour (occupied territories), Jan 23, 2016 (SPS) - Moroccan forces brutally oppressed several demonstrations in the occupied city of Boujdour, according to sources of the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 


Moroccan forces attacked Sahrawi protesters for more than two weeks, who demanded their legitimate rights, particularly the right of the Saharawi people to freedom and self-determination, the source added.

 

French AFA-RASD calls for referendum on Saharawi people's self-determination before end 2017

Paris (France), January 23, 2016 (SPS) - French Group of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic's Friends (AFA-RASD) joined Wednesday the international petition calling the UN to organize a referendum on Saharawi people's self-determination before the end of 2017.

 

"AFA-RASD joins forces with the international campaign Western Sahara Referendum NOW, launched by Swiss Committees of Support to Saharawi people, through a petition to be sent to the Security Council and UN headquarters in Geneva and New York in September 2016," said the French group.

 

Occupied Western Sahara: aborting maneuvers in the European Parliament

Strasbourg, January 21, 2016 (SPS) - The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, refused Thursday to European Parliament in Strasbourg that the question of occupied Western Sahara, a "political" issue, to be discussed outside plenary and thus aborting an attempt to get it out of its legal framework.

 

UN efforts for resolution of Sahrawi issue hampered by Morocco's obstacles

ALGIERS, January 21, 2016 (SPS) - United Nations efforts for the resolution of the Western Sahara issue have been undermined by Moroccan hindrances, said Thursday in Algiers Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

UJESARIO condemns youth group prevention from entering the occupied territories of Western Sahara

Chahid Hafed, January 20, 2016 (SPS) - Sahrawi Youth Union (UJESARIO) denounced today the Moroccan authorities prevention of  youth groups from different countries to enter and visit the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

 

 

“Sahrawi Youth Union denounced this inhumane action especially the ongoing Human Rights violations in the Occupied Territories.” said a statement of the Union, a copy of which obtained by SPS.

 

 

Prime Minister receives German parliamentary delegation

Chahid El Hafed, January 20, 2016 (SPS) .- The Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, received Tuesday a parliamentary delegation from Germany which finished a working visit to the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

Abdelkader Taleb Omar asserted the importance of this visit by the German role in world policy to exert pressure on the Moroccan government to respect and comply with international law.

 

TASSC denounces the holding of Crans Montana in the occupied Dakhla

63 foreign visitors expel from Western Sahara last 2 days

El Aaiun (Occupied Western Sahara), January 19, 2016 (SPS) .- 63 foreign visitors expelled from Western Sahara and South Morocco last 2 days., reported the website of Norwegian Support Commitee for Western Sahara.

The expulsion of 63 foreigners happened in 20 different incidents. They were from Norway (56 people), Sweden, the Netherlands, Lithuania, US, Canada and Poland.

Adala asks EP to include human rights situation in Western Sahara among its priorities

German parliamentary delegation on a working visit to Sahrawi refugee camps

Chahed el Hafed, (Saharawi refugee camps), January 19, 2016 (continued) - A delegation from the German parliament consist of Mrs. Tack Kerstia of the Social Democratic Party, and Mrs. Katja Kuel for the Green Party., on Saturday started a working visit to Sahrawi refugee camps, scheduled for three days

 

The visit aims to enable the delegation to review the situation of the Sahrawi refugee camps.

 
The delegation will visit the Sahrawi Wilayas and institutions and hold meetings with SADR authorities and senior officials. (SPS)  

 

Prime Minister oversees functions transfer to new Water and Environment Minister

Chahid El Hafed, January 18, 16 (SPS) .- The member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar on Monday oversaw the transfer of functions to the new Minister of Water and Environment, Mr. Brahim Mokhtar under the provisions of the decree issued by the Presidency of the Republic to form the new government.

Pan AfricanYouth Union reaffirms commitment to decolonization of Western Sahara

Algiers, January 18, 2016 (SPS) The President of the Pan African Youth Union (PYU), Francine Mymbuya, reiterated the position of her organization with regard to the question of Western Sahara, which is in line with position of the African Union, calling for the decolonization of the last colony in Africa.

 

Ministry of Public Health organizes first 2016 meeting of monthly coordination and consultation

Preparatory committee of 40th anniversary of SADR holds first meeting

Conflict in Western Sahara is decolonization issue

Brussels (Belgium), January 17, 2016 (SPS) - Members of the European Union (MEP) reaffirmed that the Western Sahara conflict is “a decolonization issue,” to settle in accordance with international law, which grants the Sahrawi people the right to self-determination, reiterating their call to provide the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) with a mandate to monitor Human Rights.
