Finland Communist Party invites government to recognize SADR

Submitted on

Helsinki (Finland), Jan 29, 2016 (SPS) - The central committee of Communist party of Finland (SKP) has called the Finnish government to recognize the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), expressing its solidarity with the Saharawi people in their struggle for self-determination.

The SKP called NGOs in Finland to support Saharawi people in their fight for self-determination and contribute to the development of the Saharawi society.

The central committee of Finland's communist party asked the Finnish Parliament to create a friendship group with Western Sahara to promote official contacts and show solidarity with the SADR.

Listed as non-autonomous territories since 1966, thus eligible for Resolution 1514 of the UN General Assembly relating to granting independence to colonial countries and people, Western Sahara is Africa's last colony, occupied since 1975 by Morocco. (SPS)
