USA delegation visits Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid El-Hafed(Saharawi refugee camps), February 17,2016 (SPS) - delegation of the United States of America on Tuesday  arrived to the Saharawi refugee camps on a visit expected to last three days to observe closely the situation of refugees and assess the recovery following the floods that hit the refugees last October.

 

 

Danish Municipality stopped importing salt from occupied Western Sahara

Copenhagen (Denmark), February 17,2016 (SPS) -The Danish Municipality of Gladsaxe has announced recently that it has terminated its contract on the supply of deicing salt from the Danish Company Dansk Vejsalt A/S. 

 

The termination is based on a request from the Danish Solidarity Organisation Afrika Kontakt, who had alleged that the Dansk Vejsalt Company  was importing salt from occupied Western Sahara, and not as they had claimed from Morocco.

 

 

USA continues to support Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination

Algiers,13 February 2016 (SPS) -  The United States of America reiterated its commitment to settling the conflict in Western Sahara as part of the United Nations’ efforts on the basis of a solution allowing the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination, said Tuesday the US ambassador to Algiers in a communiqué released on the occasion of the visit of a delegation of American officials to the Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf.

 

Morocco stands against forthcoming visit of Ban Ki-moon to region

Washington, February 15, 2016 (SPS) The Moroccan government stands against the visit of the UN Secretary General to Western Sahara, approved by the Security Council, indicated Monday the Polisario representative to the United Nations, Ahmed Boukhari.

 


"This is a real demonstration of obstruction to the efforts of the UN Secretary General, the Moroccan government continues to put obstacles to prevent the visit of Ban Ki-moon to the region, declared Mr. Boukahri to the Algerian press agency (APS).

 

 

SADR participates in 10th International Congress of Higher Education in Havana

Havana, February 15, 2016 (SPS) - The Minister of Education, Mohamed Fadel Mohammed Molud, has arrived in Havana at the invitation of Cuban Minister of Higher Education, M.Rodolfo Alarcón, to attend the 10th International Congress of Higher Education 2016.

 

The Education Minister was received by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Miriam Alpizar Santa, and the Ambassador of SADR in Cuba Malainin Etghana.

 

UN calls bodies to boycott Crans Montana Forum in occupied Dakhla

New York, 15 Feb 2016 (SPS) - The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Saturday called on all officials and UN bodies not to participate in the Crans Montana Forum, scheduled for March in the occupied city of Dakhla, Western Sahara.

 


The Saharawi President and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, recently sent a letter to Ban Ki-moon, deplored the decision of the board of the Crans Montana Forum to hold its next edition in the occupied city of Dakhla.

 

Sahrawi PM urges EU to step up efforts for self-determination of Sahrawi people

Shahid El Hafed, 15 Feb 2016 (SPS) - Sahrawi Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar urged the European Union to step up efforts to help the people of Western Sahara exercise their right to self-determination and independence.

 

"The EU should exercise more pressure on Morocco to support the United Nations efforts aiming at finding a solution to the Western Sahara conflict," Taleb Omar said on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

UN asks officials and bodies to refrain from participating in Crans Montana Forum

New York, Feb 13, 2016 (SPS) The United Nations Secretariat-General has called on all its officials and bodies not to participate in the next edition of Crans-Montana Forum, scheduled in the occupied city of Dakhla, Western Sahara.

 


The call comes after the letter of the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, regarding the decision of the council of the Crans Montana Forum to hold its next edition in the occupied city of Dakhla.

 

Zimbabwe rejects any activity to legitimize Moroccan illegal occupation of Western Sahara

Harare, February 13, 2016 (SPS) The Republic of Zimbabwe affirmed Friday its "categorical" rejection to participate in the annual conference of Swiss Forum "Crans Montana", under the auspices of the Moroccan monarchy, in the city of Dakhla, occupied Western Sahara, in a statement issued of Zimbabwean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

"Zimbabwe will never participate in an event that aims to legitimize the occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco," said the statement.

SADR takes part in meeting of AU peace and Security Council

Addis Ababa, 12 February 2016 (SPS) Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) represented by its Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ambassador to Ethiopia, Mr. Lamine Baali, has taken part in the meeting called for by the African peace and Security Council on "natural resources and conflicts in Africa", along with many ambassadors accredited in Addis Ababa, international and non-governmental organizations and United Nations bodies.

 

NPA President reiterates Algeria support to Saharawi cause

Algiers, February 11,2016 (SPS) .- The president of the National Popular Assembly (ANP) of Algeria, Mohamed El Arbi Ould Jlifa reiterated Wednesday the firm support of his country to Western Sahara issue in all international forums.


 

According to a statement from the NPA, Ould Jlifa, in his a reception to Saharwi Ambassador to Algeria Brahim Gali, he stressed that "the position assumed by Algeria, Parliament, Government and people stems from its belief in the justice of this cause and based on their experience in the fight against colonialism. "

UN Security Council expresses its full support for Ban Ki-moon's visit to Western Sahara

Bir Lahlou(liberated territories of SADR), February 11,2016 (SPS) .- The United Nations Security Council voiced Wednesday its full support for the planned visit of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to Western Sahara, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

At the initiative of Venezuela, that chairs the Security Council for the month of February, the Council addressed on Wednesday afternoon February 10, the question of Western Sahara and its latest developments.

Bir Lahlou(liberated territories of SADR), February 11,2016 (SPS) .- The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz asked the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon not allow any official of his organization to participate in the next meeting of the Forum of Crans Montana in the occupied city of Dajla.

 

President Mohamed Abdelaziz recalled the responsibility of the UN in Western Sahara, a territory in the process of decolonization.
 

UNESCO rejects Crans Montana Forum holding in occupied Dajla

Paris,February 09, 2016 (SPS) - The organization UNESCO has expressed its rejection to the holding of Crans Montana Forum in the occupied city of Dajla in Western Sahara recalling that the territory is under the responsibility of the UN and is a question of decolonization.
