Stockholm(Sweden), January 26, 2016 (SPS) - The Swedish minister of Foreign Affairs, Margot Wallstrom said that “Sweden’s position is unchanged vis-à-vis the issue of occupied Western Sahara.”.
“Sweden’s position is unchanged vis-à-vis the issue of occupied Western Sahara,” said Wallstrom upon receiving, in Stockholm, a delegation of the Polisario Front, led by M’hamed Khadad, member of the national secretariat, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
On this occasion, the Swedish minister reiterated her country’s support to the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and its “willingness to contribute to the success of the United Nations efforts for a just and lasting solution to the Western Sahara conflict.”
In addition, Wallstrom called for further high level consultations for the coordination between the Polisario Front and the Swedish government.
The delegation was welcomed by the Speaker of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament), Urban Ahlin, who reaffirmed the consistency of the position of the Parliament and its support to the Sahrawi cause.(SPS)
