Polisario Front takes part at British Labour Party annual congress

London, Sept 30, 2013 (SPS) - A delegation of the Polisario Front took part at the annual congress of the British Labour Party, held in Brighton on September 22-25, at an official invitation from the Party, informed POLISARIO representation in UK.


The delegation led by the POLISARIO Representative to the UK Mr. Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali, and composed of Khalihana Mohamed Mustapha, representative of Saharawi youth.

Swedish government pension fund blacklists Saharawi phosphate’s plunderers

Stockholm, Sept 30, 2013 (SPS) - The Swedish government pension funds announced Monday in a press release that it had decided to exclude phosphate importers the PotashCorp (US/Canadian) and Incitec Pivot (Australian), due to imports from the occupied Western Sahara, quoted by Western Sahara Resource Watch.

Namibia reaffirms solidarity with Saharawi people

New York, Sept 30, 2013 (SPS) - Namibia has reaffirmed solidarity with the Saharawi people, calling for the implementation of the UN Settlement Plan for Western Sahara.


“We reaffirm our solidarity with the people of Western Sahara, and call for the implementation of the UN Settlement Plan for Western Sahara,” said H.E. Mr. Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of the Republic of Namibia, in his speech during the general debate of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

Spanish delegation embarks working visit to occupied Western Sahara

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Sept 30, 2013 (SPS) - A delegation representing the Spanish Parliament’s human rights committee arrived Sunday in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, in a three-day working visit to assess the situation in these territories.


The delegation composed of Mr. Joan Josep Nuet i Pujals, Antonio Canto Garcìa del Moral (UPYD), Joan Josep Baldovì Roda (COMPROMIS), Jon Iñarritu Garcìa (AMAIUR) and Jokin Bildarratz Sorron (PNV).

Algeria “unreservedly” supports just Saharawi cause, says Ould Khelifa

Algiers, Sept 29, 2013 (SPS) - President of the Algerian People’s National Assembly Mr. Mohamed Larbi OULD KHELIFA highlighted Sunday that Algeria “unreservedly supports the just Saharawi cause,” in a meeting held Sunday in Algiers with a delegation of the Algerian community living in France.


Mr. Ould Khelifa, in this regard, stressed the importance of the exercise by the Saharawi people to their right of self-determination.

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 29, 2013 (SPS) - Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front has “strongly” condemned assassination of the young Sahrawi Rashid Al-Mamoun Shin, who was shot dead Monday by Moroccan security forces during a violent attack on a peaceful demonstration organized by the Saharawi masses in the city of Assa, in a statement concluded a meeting held Sunday and presided over by the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.

Rally in Paris to denounce assassination of Rashid Shin

Paris, Sept 29, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi community in France staged Saturday a rally to show solidarity with Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories, as well as in the cities of Assa and Zak, Southern Morocco, which have recently seen bloody clashes with Moroccan occupation forces killed many unarmed civilians, including the Martyr Rashid Shin.


The rally brought together Saharawi community as well as French sympathizers and associations of solidarity with the Saharawi people.

Saharawi FM meets heads of several delegations on the sidelines of UNGA 68th session

New York, Sept 29, 2013 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek has met in New York with a large number of the heads of delegations present at the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, said Saharawi diplomatic sources.


Head of Saharawi diplomacy, in this regard, held meetings with the foreign ministers of Algeria, Angola, Mozambique, Ecuador, Nigeria, Tanzania, Namibia and Zimbabwe.


He also met with some delegations from Latin America, Caribbean and Europe.

Mozambique for Saharawi people’s self-determination

New York, Sept 29, 2013 (SPS) - Mozambique has reaffirmed its support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, during its intervention at the UN General Assembly’s 68th session underway in New York.


Addressing world leaders who are attending this session, President of the Republic of Mozambique H.E. Mr. Armando Emílio Guebuza said that his country “continues to defend its support to the serf-determination of the Saharawi People.” (SPS)

Tanzania urges UN to take “bold actions” vis-à-vis Saharawi people

New York, Sept 29, 2013 (SPS) - “It is high time that the United Nations took bold actions to give the people of Saharawi the opportunity to decide on their fate,” said Friday H.E. Mr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, in his address before the general debate of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.


Tanzanian President went on saying that it “is incomprehensible why the Security Council which has been able to handle bigger security challenges cannot decide on the matter for nearly forty years now.” (SPS)

Algerian FM holds discussion with UNSG’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara

New York, Sept 28, 2013 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria Mr. Ramtane Lamamra held Friday in New York, on the sidelines of the General Assembly session, discussions with Mr. Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara.


Mr. Ross took this occasion to congratulate Mr. Lamamra for his appointment at the head of Algerian diplomacy.


He also briefed him about his activities ahead of the upcoming visit to the region.

Adala UK calls for independent investigation into death of Shin Rashid

London, Sept 28, 2013 (SPS) - The British Non-Governmental Organization “Adala UK” has called for an independent investigation into the death the Martyr Shin Rashid Ould Al-Mamoun, adding that those responsible should be brought to justice, in a statement published Friday.


The British NGO said that this attack by Moroccan forces on Saharawi citizens in the city of Asa (Southern Morrocco) “was an attempt to put down a peaceful demonstration.”

Occupied Dakhla: Saharawi citizen injured due to landmine explosion

Dakhla (occupied territories), Sept 28, 2013 (SPS) - The Saharawi citizen Haidala Ould Azrug Al-Mousaoui was injured Thursday due to landmine explosion, 350 Km south of the occupied city of Dahkla, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.


Haidala Ould Azrug Al-Mousaoui, 28 years, was seriously injured and exposed to burns on the level of his head and feet, said the same source.

Morocco maneuvered to block Tannock report at European Parliament, says Sidati

Algiers, Sept 28, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi Minister Delegate for Europe Mohamed Sidati denounced Thursday the Moroccan “maneuvers” to block the adoption by a European Parliament committee of the Charles Tannock report on the situation of human rights in Sahel and Western Sahara.


Hailed by the Polisario Front following its adoption Tuesday by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, the Tannock report will be submitted for approval and vote of the European Parliament in plenary session next October.

The Saharawi Cooperation Minister concludes working visit to Denmark

Copenhagen (Denmark), Sept 26, 2013 (SPS)- The Saharawi Minister of Cooperation, Mr. Brahim Mojtar, accompanied by Polisario Front representative in Denmark Mr. Abba Malainin, concluded a working visit to Denmark lasted from 23 to 25 September 2013, according to a source from the representation of Polisario Front in Copenhagen.
