Pretoria, Aug 31, 2013 (SPS) - African Women Organization has voiced full support to the struggle of Saharawi people for freedom and independence, in a meeting dedicated for the assessment of its experience during the past 50 years, informed Saharawi embassy in South Africa.

Sit-in to denounce Moroccan military wall in Western Sahara

Oum Legta (liberated territories), Aug 31, 2013 (SPS) - Authorities of the Wilaya of Smara organized Friday a demonstration in Oum Legta region in the liberated territory of Bir Lehlou to denounce the Moroccan wall of shame in Western Sahara.


The event attended by a group of youth and student as well as authorities of the Wilaya.


The participants “strongly deplored” this military wall which constitutes a crime against humanity, calling on the international community to “urgently act” to remove it.

Green energy to uphold Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara (ONG)

Paris, Aug 31, 2013 (SPS) - A report, detailing how Morocco intends to build over 1000 MW (megawatts) of renewable energy plants in Western Sahara, a territory partially occupied by Morocco, was launched by the non-governmental organization Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW).


These solar and wind projects, no matter how green, will be “severely damaging” for the people of Western Sahara, warned WSRW’s coordinator Sara Eyckmans.

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Aug 25, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan repression forces have tightened the noose on Foum el-Oued beach in the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, after the uprising that erupted last week, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.


According to the source, Moroccan army and gendarmerie vehicles are controlling the way in and out of the beach, while Moroccan gendarmerie cars continue to harass the defenseless Saharawis.

The University, named after the late Khalil Sid Mhamed, held current August 17-24 in the Saharawi refugee camps under the motto: “student branches serve the national cause.”
