Polisario Front takes part at British Labour Party annual congress

London, Sept 30, 2013 (SPS) - A delegation of the Polisario Front took part at the annual congress of the British Labour Party, held in Brighton on September 22-25, at an official invitation from the Party, informed POLISARIO representation in UK.


The delegation led by the POLISARIO Representative to the UK Mr. Mohamed Limam Mohamed Ali, and composed of Khalihana Mohamed Mustapha, representative of Saharawi youth.


The delegation attended a conference devoted to the questions related to the Party’s foreign policy and its position on international issues.


Saharawi Representative asked, during this conference, about possibility of the adoption by the Labour Party, if he wins the next elections, of a more effective approach in order to resolve the Western Sahara conflict, including also to push the UN in the direction of establishing a mechanism within the MINURSO to monitor and periodically report about human rights to the Security Council.


The congress allowed the Saharawi diplomat to hold important talks with the MP Richard Hewitt, from the British Labour Party.


He also met the ambassadors of Algeria, Spain and Bangladesh, in addition to the second secretary of Egyptian embassy.


Representative of Saharawi youth, for his part, had the opportunity to address a session devoted to the representatives of friendly parties, where he explained the nature of illegal Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara, emphasizing that the Polisario Front, as the sole and legitimate representative of the Saharawi people, is a liberation movement seeking to enable the Saharawi people to enjoy their inalienable right to self-determination.


He, moreover, spoke about the violations of human rights being perpetrated by Moroccan occupation authorities in Western Sahara. (SPS)
