President of republic arrives to Equatorial Guinea

Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) May 29, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived Wednesday to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to attend the 17th ordinary conference of the African Union (AU) held from 30 June to 1 July.

The President Mohamed Abdelaziz and his accompanying delegation were received by Deputy Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Solomon Nguema,  Interior Minister, Clemente Yogongo and Mayor of Malabo, Maria Coloma Yadganga.

UJS denounces Moroccan systematic torture against defenseless Saharawi civilians

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps) June 27, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi Union of Jurists (UJS) has denounced Morocco’s systematic torture perpetuated against the defenseless Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, on the occasion of the International Day against Torture observes on June 26 each year.

AU Commission reaffirms support for referendum of self-determination in Western Sahara

Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) June 27, 2011 (SPS) - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Jean Ping, reaffirmed Sunday the support of the AU to the holding of a self-determination referendum in Western Sahara, in a report submitted to the 19th ordinary session of the AU Executive Council taking place in  Equatorial Guinea on June 26-27, 2011.

Experience of Saharawi Refugees subject of seminar in Geneva

Geneva, June26, 2011(SPS) in the headquarters of UNHCR in Geneva a seminar about the Saharawi refugees (experience and challenges) was organized by the Center for  Studies on Refugees of the British University of Oxford.   

The seminar was attended by president of the Saharawi Red Croissant, Buhabaine Yahya, and many personalities involving in the affairs of the refugees around the world.

Montevideo, June 25, 2011 (SPS) - Uruguayan Vice-President and President of the Senate, Mr. Danilo Astori, reiterated Friday the support of his country to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, during a meeting in Parliament’s headquarters with the Saharawi Ambassador in Montevideo, Mr.  Shaibani Abbas, and Presdient of the Uruguayan Association of Solidarity with the Saharawi people, Mr. Gomez Emiliano.

Denmark repeats it will vote against EU fisheries in Western Sahara

Copenhagen, 24 juin 2011 (SPS).- In a debate in the EU Committee in the Danish parliament, 23 June, Minister of Food, Henrik Høegh stated that Denmark will vote no as long as Morocco fails to present more information on the benefits to the people of Western Sahara. The purpose of the debate was to give the Danish government the permission to vote no to the agreement, reports Western Sahara Resources Watch in a dispatch spread on June 23rd.

Tripartite Algeria-South Africa-Nigeria: Intense preparations

Algiers, June 22, 2011 (SPS) - The members of United Cities and Local Governments of Africa has adopted Tuesday in Algiers a strategic document on the measures that African states supporting the Sahrawi cause should adopt to speed up the liberation of the last colony in Africa.

Algiers, June 22, 2011 (SPS) - "The position of South Africa for independence of Western Sahara will remain the same with the change of government in our country," said Ms. Makina Zanella, North Africa director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Africa at the meeting Tuesday in Algiers, of the Algeria- South Africa Coordination as part of the preparations for the tripartite meeting of the Movement of Solidarity with the Saharawi people scheduled for September which will include Nigeria.
