El Aaiun (occupied territories) June 11, 2011 (SPS) - Families of Saharawi political detainees organized Friday a peaceful protest outside the so-called Moroccan Court of Appeal in the occupied city of El Aaiun to demand the release of their sons, according to Saharawi human rights source.

Dakhla (refugee camps) June 10, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Adelaziz, called Thursday on Sahrawi youth for the contiuation of communication between generations, intencification of the liberation battle and establishment of strong foundations of the Saharawi state, in his speech  during the opening of the National Conference of Youth held in the Wilaya of Dakhla on June 9-11, 2011.

German parliamentary delegation visits Sahrawi Refugees camps

Berlin, June 9, 2011 (SPS) - German Parliamentary Delegation including five parliamentarians and headed by Mr. Frank Heinrich, from the Parliamentary Group of the Christian Democratic Party (CDU/CSU), is visiting Tuesday the Sahrawi refugee camps in the framework of a tour that lasts four days, according to a statement of the German Parliament received by SPS.

Sahrawi refugees’ basic needs estimated at more than $26 million

Algiers, June 8, 2011 (SPS –The Sahrawi refugees’ basic needs are estimated by UN High Commission for Refugees at more than $26 million, against more than $13 million allocated by donators, HCR Algeria representative Abdul Karim Ghoul said Wednesday Algiers.

US Department of State affirms support for UN process to resolve the question of Western Sahara

Washington, June 8, 2011 (SPS) The United  States Department of State said Tuesday that the UN process is’ the best way forward’ to resolve the question of Western Sahara , expressing support to Ross's effort, in a statement made ​​by the spokesman for the State Department, Mark Toner, during his daily briefing.

Responding to question about US position on peace talks between Polisario Front and Morocco in, Manhasset Mr. Toner argued that ''there is a UN process in place, as evidenced by meetings of  New York''.

Manhasset, June 8, 2011 (SPS) - This round took place after the adoption of resolution 1979 the Security Council that calls for discussion of proposals of the two parties and following the publication of the report on Western Sahara in which the Secretary-General strongly recalls that the consultation of the people of Western Sahara is "more than ever at the heart of the search for a just and lasting solution" of the conflict, ,Mr. Jatri Addouh affirmed Tuesday during a press briefing at the end of the 7th round of negotiations between the Polisario Front and Morocco held in Manhasset from 5 to 7 June 2011 under the auspices of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Christopher Ross.

National conference on concerns of Saharawi youth held Thursday in Wilaya of Dakhla

 The National Conference of Youth will be held June 9-11, in the Wilaya of Dakhla, refugee camps, with the aim of formulating a new strategy to address the issues related to the Sahrawi young people and exploring their capabilities for employing them in the battle for construction and liberation to establishment the Sahrawi state.

Prime Minister receives Algerian solidarity caravan

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps) June 5, 2011 (SPS) - Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, received Saturday an Algerian caravan of solidarity carrying school kits for the benefits of the Saharawi children in the refugee camp.

During the reception, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation and gratitude of the Saharawi people to such initiative, confirming “this operation will help to relieve the Saharawi families spending on school supplies to 30,000 Saharawi children during next year.”

Frente Polisario calls for reaffirming self-determination as central objective of UN political process

Kingstown (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) June 5, 2011 (SPS) - The Representative of the Frente POLISARIO to the UN, Mr. Ahmed Boukhari, has called upon the UN Decolonization Committee to reaffirm self-determination as the central objective of the UN political process, in the annual regional seminar of the UN Fourth Committee held from May 31 to June 3, 2011 in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
