Ljubljana, April 30, 2012 (SPS) - Vice-President of the Parliamentary Group of Solidarity with the Saharawi People in EU Parliament and Former Slovenian Foreign Minister, Mr. Ivo Vajgl, applauded the decision taken last December by the EP to freeze the fishing agreement with Morocco due to Rabat violations of human rights in Western Sahara, in a joint seminar along with POLISARIO Representative to Balkan, Mr. Malainin Bagada, broadcast by Slovenian television last week.

Melbourne, April 28, 2012 (SPS) - The Sahrawi human rights activist Malak Amidane will visit Australia on the forthcoming May to aware about the situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

Malak will visit Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney. She will meet with politicians, NGOs, trade unions leaders and press to advocate for greater support for Western Sahara. And she will also give public talks and present lectures about dire situation of human rights in occupied Western Sahara at various universities in Australia.

New York (UN), April 24, 2012 (SPS) -The Security Council of the UN adopted Tuesday a resolution on Western Sahara in which it reaffirmed the solution allowing "self-determination of the Sahrawi people," while stressing the need for complete freedom of movement for MINURSO.

Unanimously adopted, the resolution 2204 (2012) points out that the Security Council "reaffirms its commitment to help both parties to the conflict to achieve a fair, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution, allowing the self-determination of the people of the Western Sahara."

Accra, April 23, 2012 (SPS) - The Socialist Forum of Ghana (SFG) has called on the UN Security Council to extend as a matter of urgency the mandate of MINURSO to include the monitoring of human rights in Western Sahara and to take all other measures necessary for the Saharawi people to enjoy their right to self-determination, in a letter sent on April 12, 2012 to the UN Secretary General.

Asunción, April 23, 2012 (SPS) - The International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) has called on the United Nations to assume its full responsibilities towards the people of Western Sahara, urging it to extend the task of MINURSO to include the monitoring of human rights in the Saharawi occupied territories, in a communiqué concluded works of its 29th Congress held April 20-22 in Asunción, capital of Paraguay.

Budapest, April 23, 2012 (SPS) - The Central and Eastern European Alliance for Solidarity with the Saharawi People (CEE Alliance) called Monday on the Security Council to address the question of Western Sahara on the basis of the implementation of UN resolutions and international legality, when reviewing tomorrow the mandate of MINURSO, in a letter sent to UN chief Ban Ki-moon.

Asunción (Paraguay), April 23, 2012 (SPS) - The Saharawi Youth Union (known as UESARIO) elected Sunday as one of vice-president of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY), at Congress held from 20-23 April 2012 in Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.

A delegation representing UJSARIO, led by member of National Council and Representative in Diaspora Dr. Brahim Ghali Abdalfatah, took part in the Congress.

Madrid, April 22, 2012 (SPS) - The ninth edition of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara, known as FiSahara, presented Thursday in Madrid in the presence of its co-directors, Jose Taboada and Guillermo Toledo, and POLISARIO Representative to Madrid.

According to the organizers, the Festival will be organized from May 1st to 6, 2012 in the Wilaya of Dajla (Saharawi refugee camps), and will be attended by several international famous figures like the Spanish actress Aitana Sánchez-Gijón.
