Saharawi activist to aware about human rights of Western Sahara in Australia

Melbourne, April 28, 2012 (SPS) - The Sahrawi human rights activist Malak Amidane will visit Australia on the forthcoming May to aware about the situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

Malak will visit Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney. She will meet with politicians, NGOs, trade unions leaders and press to advocate for greater support for Western Sahara. And she will also give public talks and present lectures about dire situation of human rights in occupied Western Sahara at various universities in Australia.

Saharawi activist will call for Australia to support the right of the Saharawi people to determine their own future through a free and fair UN referendum and the inclusion of human rights monitoring in the mandate of the UN mission in Western Sahara.

Malak Amidane has been arrested and subjected to horrendous abuses by the Moroccan security forces on several occasions. (SPS)
