Nouakchott, December 30, 2012 (SPS) - The President of the National Youth Organization of the Mauritanian Rally of Democratic Forces (RFD) Cheikh Sid'Ahmed Aida has reiterated his party’s commitment to the inalienable right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, in a meeting with the Secretary General of the Saharawi Students Union Ahmed Lehbib Abdi.

Martyr Chreif’s Centre (refugee camps), Dec 30, 2012 (SPS) - A group of young Saharawis, currently study in the Diaspora, organized Thursday a march under the title: “scream against the Wall of Shame”, a distance of 50 km eastern the Wall.


“This initiative is part of the annual programme of the Union of Youth of Saguia el-Hamra and Río de Oro (UJSARIO), in preparation for the new year that will be celebrated in the liberated territories of SADR,” said the SG of UJSARIO Mr. Mousa Selma in an interview with SPS.

Saharawi delegation attends 3rd Congress of Mauritanian UFP

Nouakchott, Dec 30, 2012 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation is attending work of the 3rd Congress of the Union of Progressive Forces of Mauritania (UFP), where he held talks on the sidelines of the Congress, said a source close to the delegation.


The delegation held talks with the President of the Union of Progressive Forces (UFP) Mr. Mohamed Ould Mouloud, Vice-President Mr. Bakary Dafa and the SG of the General Confederation of Mauritanian Workers (CGTM) Mr. Mohamed Abdallahi Ould Mohamed.

Nouakchott , Dec  25, 2012 (SPS) - The Personal Envoy of the President of Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, was received Monday in Nouakchott by President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz.

 

"I conveyed to His Excellency Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania a letter from his Saharawi counterpart, in which he congratulated him on his recovery and return to the country”, the Minister of foreign said to SPS.

Algiers, Dec 25, 2012 (SPS)- France, which advocates the defence of human rights and the emancipation of peoples, is doing the opposite on the ground with the position it has adopted regarding the emancipation of the Saharawi people, said Monday in Algiers Professor at the University of Algiers III, Salah Saoud said.

Algeria: El Oued hosts SADR Cultural Week

El Oued (Algeria), Dec  22, 2012 (SPS) - First edition of Cultural Week of Saharawi Republic in El Oued province, Algeria , will start tomorrow under the motto  “Culture for Serving Development” , held held from 22th to 27th December 2012, said the organizers .

 

The cultural event aims to create communication and exchange between the Saharawi and Algerian culture, said the source.

 

SADR Cultural Week in  El Oued  will be marked by several festivities including lectures, screening of documentaries and concerts.

“Western Sahara: last colony in Africa”, theme of seminar in Tokyo

Tokyo, Dec 22, 2012 (SPS) - A seminar on the theme “the last colony in Africa, Western Sahara” was organized Thursday in Meijigakuin University in the Japanese capital Tokyo, in the presence of Japanese professors, journalists, scholars, artists, students and sympathizers with the Saharawi cause, in addition to the Algerian ambassador to Japan.

According to the organizers, the seminar was jointly sponsored by the International Peace Research Institute, Sahara-Japan Journalists Association (SJJA) and Western Sahara Japan Preparative Office (WSJPO).

ANC reaffirms inalienable right of Saharawi People to self-determination and independence.

Bloemfontein (South Africa), Dec 21, 2012 (SPS) -the 53rd National Elective Conference of the South African National Congress (ANC) took place from 16th to 20th December 2012 in the city of Bloemfontein, reaffirmed the inalienable right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination and independence.
 

In a motion adopted by the congress of the ANC, it recalled “the historic relations of comradeship and solidarity existing between the ANC and the Polisario Front as allies in the struggle against injustice, colonialism and apartheid.”
 

Morocco-EU fisheries agreement, a violation of international law

London,December21,2012(SPS) - President of Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) Erik Hagen said Thursday that by refusing to involve the Saharawi people in negotiations on the fisheries agreement with the European Union (EU), Morocco "violates the international law and undermines UN peace efforts."

"Morocco is not in a position to negotiate with EU on fisheries agreement in a territory which is not Moroccan," said the president of this association, in charge of the protection of natural resources in Western Sahara.
 

Western Sahara: France is for implementation of UN resolutions, says Hollande

Tlemcen (Algeria) December21,2012(SPS)  - France is for the implementation of United Nations resolutions on Western Sahara, said Thursday in Tlemcen French President François Hollande.
 

"We are for the implementation of UN resolutions and only UN resolutions," he said, adding that "we must move towards the implementation of all UN resolutions."
 

The French president said that he discussed with his Algerian counterpart the question of closing Algerian-Moroccan land border and the reasons behind this decision.(SPS)
