Former French first lady Danielle Mitterand dies

Paris, November 23, 2011 (SPS) - Former French first lady Danielle Mitterand died on Tuesday at the age of 87. AFP news agency quoted unnamed sources close to the widow of Socialist president Francois Mitterand as saying she passed away in the Georges Pompidou European Hospital in Paris during the night.

 

Mitterand was admitted to hospital on Friday suffering from anemia and extreme fatigue. Doctors put her in an induced coma.

 

Polisario Front denounces vote of European parliament’s Fisheries Committee to renew fisheries agreement with Morocco

  Brussels, November 23,2011(SPS)  The Polisario Front, Tuesday , denounced  the vote by the European Pariament’s Fisheries Committee to recommend the entry into force of the proposed one-year renewal of the EU’s Fisheries Partnership Agreement with Morocco, which is used by EU fishermen to fish illegally in Western Sahara's waters.

Opening of new Saharawi representation in Sesto Fiorentino (Florence)

Rome, Nov 22, 2011 (SPS) - A new Saharawi representation devoted to the victims of Gdeim Izik camp was opened in the Italian city of Sesto Fiorentino (Florence) to strengthen the Saharawi diplomatic efforts in Tuscany, the Polisario Front representative in Italy, Omar Mih, told Monday the Algerian Press Service (APS).

 

“The inauguration of this new representation is a sign of support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination by the elected officials of Sesto Fiorentino, " the Mayor Gianni Gianassi underlined.

 

Polisario Front condemns strongly inclusion of occupied part of Western Sahara within Moroccan elections

Bir Lahlu ( liberated  territories) November22,2011(SPS) the Polisario Front and the Government of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)  Sunday expressed  full condemn to the inclusion of the occupied part of Western Sahara in the Moroccan elections planned to be held on November 25, considering this inclusion     "flagrant violation" of international legitimacy  according to non -autonomous territory  registered  in the list of UN decolonization committee.

Rabat, Nov 21, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi students in Rabat denounced Monday the elections which Moroccan government plans to extend it to the Saharawi occupied territories, renewing their adherence to the Polisario Front a sole representative of the Saharawi people, informed a source in the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 21, 2011 (SPS) - “Recognition of the Saharawi cause is one of my party’s biggest concerns within the Swedish parliament,” asserted Ms. Sara Karlsson, member of the Swedish Parliament from the Social Democratic Party.

The Swedish MP told SPS that her visit to the Saharawi refugee camps with the Party’s youth “aims to closely observe the situation of the Saharawi refugees in order to convey a comprehensive image to the Swedish society.”

Popular Party achieves overwhelming result in the Spanish general election

Madrid, Nov 21, 2011 (SPS) - The general elections organized Sunday in Spain has resulted in an overwhelming victory for the Popular Party at the expense of Socialist Party, whilst the United Left and Union for Progress and Democracy (UPyD) achieved tangible progress.

The Popular Party won 186 seats in the 350-seats lower chamber of Parliament, whereas the Socialist Party plummeted from 169 seats to 110, their worst performance ever, according to the observers.

Shaheed Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 19, 2011 (SPS) - The political preparatory conferences for the Polisario 13th Congress launched Saturday morning in all constituencies at the wilayas and institutions of the Saharawi Republic.

Members of the Preparatory Committee have supervised the political conferences at every constituency in Shaheed Al Hafed, the 4 wilayas and schools of October 12 and February 27. They are also expected to launch Sunday in all regions of the Saharawi People’s Liberation Army, according to the Agenda of organizing committee.

Andino Parliament for re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and SADR

Prime Minister supervises inauguration of first publishing house in Saharawi refugee camps

February 27th School (refugee camps) Nov 17, 2011 (SPS) - Prime Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, has overseen on Tuesday the inauguration of the first publishing house in the Saharawi  refugee camps, “L'Harmattan -RASD", which is branch of Saharawi Journalists and Writers Union (UPES).

 

 The opening ceremony was attended by members of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, ministers and parliamentarians.

 

 The Prime Minister praised the UPES for this achievement, “which will join the efforts serving the national culture."
