SADR takes part in AU follow-up Meeting of Government Experts

Addis Ababa, Nov 04, 2011 (SPS)- A Saharawi delegation headed by SADR Ambassador to Republic of South Sudan, Hammadi Bachir, has participated in AU Follow-up Meeting of Government Experts on the Review of the Protocols relating to the African Court of Justice and Human and Peoples’ Rights held from  October 31 to November 04, 2011 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The AU government experts adopted the amendments of the Protocol concerning  the establishment of the African court of justice.

Algerian government continues its efforts to free hostages kidnapped in Sahrawi refugee camps (Prime Minister)

Algiers, November 3, 2011 (SPS) - Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, declared that his Government and concerned services “will conduct their work “ to free the three European aid workers  abducted for more than  a week in the Sahrawi refugee camps.

 

In an interview with Algerian newspaper "El Watan”, Ouyahia said that "this issue is of great importance because it is a matter of life or death for the hostages and it should not be taken easy."

 

ACHPR condemns abduction of three European humanitarian workers from Sahrawi refugee camps

SADR signs agreement with Wessex and Tower

Houston, November 3, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) is very pleased to announce it has executed an Assurance Agreement for a Production Sharing Contract for the Imlili Block in the Western Sahara with Wessex  Exploration PLC and Tower Resources Limited, confirmed a statement of SADR Oil and Gas Exploration, received by SPS Tuesday.

 

EU Parliamentary assaulted by Moroccan police

Danish Organisation Afrika Kontakt receives award for its work against EU- Morocco Fisheries Agreement

Copenhagen, (Denmark) November 3, 2011 (SPS) - The Danish Organisation Afrika Kontakt received this year People’s Movement Award for its work against the EU-Morocco fisheries Agreement that illegally included Western Sahara.

 

"This year the price goes to an organization that is not afraid to criticize when the EU pillages in Africa," So said Lave Knud Broch from the Danish People’s Movement against the EU in his address at their national Congress, Sunday 30 October in Copenhagen.

 

AU reiterates condemnation for kidnapping of three European aid workers in Sahrawi refugee camps

Addis Ababa, November 3, 2011 (SPS) - The African Union (AU) condemned Tuesday the terrorist operation that led to the kidnapping of two Spaniards and an Italian from a residence of foreigners in the Sahrawi refugee camps October 23, in a statement received by SPS.

 

"The African Union has strongly condemned this cowardly act," said the president of the African Union Commission, Jean Ping.

 

Cooperation Minister expresses "support" to families of kidnapped aid workers in refugee camps

Mérida (Spain), November 3, 2011 (SPS) - The Minister of Cooperation, Salek Baba, expressed Wednesday his "support" to the families of three aid workers, kidnapped for more than a week in the Sahrawi camps refugee, reported the Spanish agency Europa Press.

 

The Saharawi diplomat in a visit to Merida, the capital of Estremadura, met with the mayor of that city, Pedro Acedo.

 

Sahrawi political prisoner before military court in Rabat

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), November 3, 2011 (SPS) -  The Saharawi political prisoner, Mohamed Bani, 42, appeared Thursday before the investigating judge of the military court in Rabat (Morocco), after more than 11 months in detention in the prison of Salé (near Rabat,) in relations with the events of Gdeim Izik, reported a Sahrawi judicial source.

 

EU will continue to support Saharawi people (European official)

Algiers, November 2, 2011 (SPS) - The Ambassador and Representative of the High Commissioner of the European Union in Algeria, Lora Baez, declared that the EU "will maintain" solidarity with the Saharawi people and will continue its humanitarian aid," in a statement to the Algerian newspaper elkabar.

 

The European official also announced an aid of € 9 million for the Sahrawi refugees at the end of the year.

 

  According to officials, the Europe public support since 1993 has reached 150 million euros.

 

Forty Sahrawi human rights defenders attacked by Moroccan police at El Aaiun airport

Shaheed El Hafed, November 2, 2011 (SPS) - Forty Sahrawi human rights defenders were "assaulted and beaten" by the Moroccan police late Monday afternoon at the airport of El Aaiun (occupied capital of Western Sahara), Sahrawi official source reported Tuesday.

 

From Algiers where they had participated in the second edition of the international conference in Algiers on "the right of peoples to resistance," the Sahrawi activists were "attacked by dozens of police armed with batons that insulted and offended them" for more than four hours, the source added.
