Decolonization of Western Sahara, priority for African trade union movement (NLC President)

Abuja, Feb 2, 2015 (SPS) - The outgoing president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Abdulwahed Omar, on Monday called on African workers, particularly the Nigerians, to continue mobilizing for the acceleration of the decolonization process in Western Sahara and to ensure the right to self-determination for Saharawi people.

Preparatory committee for 7th congress of Saharawi women holds its first meeting

Boujdour (refugee camps), Feb 2, 2015 (SPS) - The Preparatory committee for the 7th congress of Saharawi Women Union on Sunday held its first meeting at the headquarters of the Union in Boujdour, Saharawi refugee camps.


The meeting was chaired by the General Secretary of the Union, Mrs. Fatma El-Mehdi, and head of Polisario Front’s political organization, Mr. Salem Labsir.

Moroccan occupation forces still violate human rights

EL-Aaiun (occupied territories), February 9, 2015 (SPS) -The attacks carried out against the Sahrawi people by the Moroccan occupation forces continue in the Saharawi occupied capital, EL-Aaiun, where a peaceful demonstration was brutally repressed recently.

 

The protesters demanded the decolonization of Western Sahara and the release of all Saharawi political prisoners, a source at the Ministry of Occupied Territories and community abroad, which also reported a deadly assault by Moroccan settlers, against a young Sahrawi in EL-Aaiun.

Polisario determined to cooperate with MINURSO

Smara (Refugee Camps), February 8, 2015 (SPS) - Polisario Front said it is determined to cooperate with the UN Secretary-General's special representative and head of the MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara), Kim Bolduc.

 

Polisario Front's stance has been expressed by Saharawi Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar, while meeting, in Smara, Kim Bolduc, who has taken over from German Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber, whose term in office ended on 31 July 2014.

 

Announcement of preparatory committee of NUSW 7th Congress

 Boujdour (refugee camps), February 8, 2015 (SPS) - The Executive Bureau of the National Union of Saharawi Women (NUSW) announced Saturday, after a meeting chaired by the Secretary General, Fatma Elmehdi, the list of the members of the preparatory committee of the 7th congress which comprises 35 members.

 

The preparatory committee of the 7th Congress of the NUSW will hold its first meeting Wednesday, in the headquarters of the union in the wilaya of Boujdour, it should be noted. (SPS)

Killing of young Sahrawi in occupied city of El Aaiun by Moroccan settlers

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), February 8, 2015 (SPS) - was killed Wednesday following a brutal attack by 5 Moroccan settlers, in the occupied city of El which required his immediate transfer to a hospital located in the city of Agadir (Southwest Morocco), according with the sources of the Saharawi Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

 

Repression of peaceful demonstration in occupied city of El Aaiun

 El Aaiun (occupied Territories), February 8, 2015 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation forces repressed Saturday a peaceful demonstration demanding evacuation of the Moroccan occupation, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 

The demonstrators expressed support to the Sahrawi political prisoners in the Moroccan jails and condemned the systematic repressive practices which the Saharwi people are subject to.

 

UN aware of need to reach solution to Western Sahara question

Smara (Refugee Camps) – UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Western Sahara Kim Bolduc said Saturday in the Saharawi refugee camps that the UN is acutely aware of the need to reach a solution to Western Sahara issue.

 

In a statement to the press after a meeting with Sahrawi Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Amar, the UN official said that he was closely monitoring the situation since his appointment in May 2014, through the teams activating in Western Sahara and in the Sahrawi refugee camps.

Western Sahara Resource Watch marks 10 years of existence
