French delegation starts visit in Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 18, 2014 (SPS) - A French delegation of the parliamentary committee of solidarity with the Saharawi people began Thursday a two-day visit in the Saharawi refugee camps, said the Ministry of Information.


According to agenda of the visit, the delegation will hold Thursday evening a meeting with the Minister of Cooperation and the head of the External Relations Committee at the Saharawi National Council (Parliament), stated the Ministry of Information, in statement issued today.

Ministry of Culture hosts seminar on microcredits

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 17, 2014 (SPS) - A seminar on microcredits was organized Wednesday morning at the Conference Hall in the headquarters of the Saharawi Ministry of Culture.


In a speech during the event, the Secretary General of the Cooperation Ministry, Sid El-Ouali Amer, highlighted the goals underlined by the Saharawi Government to put into force such project, mainly of which to encourage productive projects and self-sufficiency, in addition to develop the national economy.

Council of Ministers condemns Moroccan continued obstruction to settlement efforts

Council of Ministers warns of influence of Moroccan drugs on security and stability

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 17, 2014 (SPS) - The Council of Ministers has warned of the influence of drugs coming from Morocco on the security and stability in the region, calling on the Saharawi people to stand in the face of Moroccan occupation’s intrigues and policies.


In a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting held Tuesday, the Council called upon Saharawi citizens to stand strong in the face of Moroccan plots, intensify the action of struggle, consolidate the means of resistance and stick to their national unity.

Occupied Boujdour: peaceful protest banned by Moroccan forces

Boujdour (occupied territories), Sept 17, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying forces on Monday banned a peaceful protest was planned by Saharawi human rights bodies in the occupied city of Boujdour, said a right source.


The protesters was demanding the release of all Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan jails, extension of MINURSO mandate to include human rights monitoring and respecting the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

Saharawi president warns against danger of drugs coming from Morocco

Polisario Front representatives to Spain meet to assess annual action plan

Madrid, Sept 16, 2014 (SPS) - Representatives of the Polisario Front in the Spanish autonomous communities met early this week in Madrid to evaluate the annual plan of action and to put into action the decisions taken by the recent session of the National Secretariat of the Frente Polisario.


The diplomats denounced the “negative and irresponsible” way of dealing from the part of Morocco with the efforts of the United Nations (UN) to find a solution to the conflict of Western Sahara.

Security Council to hold emergency meeting on Ebola virus

New York, Sept 16, 2014 (SPS) - Security Council of the United Nations will hold Thursday an emergency meeting to tackle the spread of Ebola virus in West Africa.


The U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, who presides over the Council during the month of September, said that Washington hopes this meeting will come up with “concrete commitments” to combat this epidemic.


It is to be recalled that a total of 2300 people have died in several countries in West Africa since the outbreak of the epidemic last March.

Norwegian Conservative Youth urges government to work for protection of Saharawi human rights

Oslo, Sept 16, 2014 (SPS) - Youth League of Norway’s Conservative Party called Monday upon the Government to act in favour of the protection of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in a motion on Western Sahara adopted unanimously by its National Council.


The motion asked the Government of Norway to take a “public and frank” stance opposing France’s one which aims at undermining the protection of human rights in Western Sahara.

Moroccan occupying forces intervene aggressively against Saharawi protesters

UESARIO new Executive Bureau holds first meeting

Shahid Hafed, September 15, 2014 (SPS) The new executive board of the Student Union of Saguia El-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UESARIO) held its first meeting Sunday at the headquarters of the organization in Shahid Hafed (camps Sahrawi refugees).

 

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary General, Moulay Brahim M'hamed, and focused on the outcome of the last meeting of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and the active role of the UESARIO.

 

President of Republic condemns expulsion of Spanish observers from occupied territories of Western Sahara

Birlehlu (Liberated territories), 15 August, 2014 (SPS) -  The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the POLISARIO Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, has condemned the expulsion of Spanish independent observers from the occupied city of Dakhla, Western Sahara, by the Moroccan authorities, in a letter Sunday to the United Nations General Secretary, Ban Ki-moon.

 

Sarajevo Mayor expresses support and solidarity with Saharawi people for independence

Sarajevo, September 14, 2014 (SPS)-  The mayor of Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadzibajric, expressed Thursday “strong” support and solidarity with the Saharawi people for self-determination and  independence, during a reception the Town Hall to the Representative of the Polisario Front, Malainin Bagada Mohamed.

 

The Sarajevo Mayor expressed also the readiness to start bilateral relations with Sahrawi municipalities, according to a statement of the POLISARIO Front representation in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia.

 

Mayor of Puerto del Rosario reaffirms support for right of Saharawi people to self-determination

Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), September 14, 2014 (SPS) - The current mayor of Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), Marcial Morales Martín, reiterated the support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, during a reception to the Polisario Front representative in the Canary Islands, Hamdi Barai.  

 

The Polisario Front representative was also received at the headquarters of the municipality of La Oliva by its mayor, Claudina  Morales, who also reiterated the support for the right of the Saharawi people.

 

Question of Western Sahara is present at Festival of Humanity 2014

Paris, September 13, 2014 (SPS) - The Western Sahara will be represented this weekend by two stalls at the World Village Festival of Humanity by the Association of Sahrawi Community in France and the Association of Sahrawis in France.

 

A discussion on the question of Western Sahara jointly organized by the Association of Sahrawis in France (ASF) and the Association of Sahrawi Community in France (ACSF), with the support of the Platform of Solidarity with the People of Western Sahara is scheduled for Sunday in the World village.

 

Moroccan authorities expel Basque delegation from occupied Dakhla

Dakhla (Occupied Territories) September 13, 2014 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation authorities expelled Thursday Spanish human rights delegation from the Basque region from the occupied city of Dakhla to the Moroccan city of Agadir .

 

"We were informed by the Moroccan authorities that we are persona non grata," said a member of the delegation after the expulsion.

 

Saharawi delegation participates in 27th session of UN Council of Human Rights

Geneva, September 13, 2014 (SPS) -  A Saharawi delegation participates in the 27th session of the United Nations Council of Human Rights which takes place September 8-27, according to a source of the delegation.

 

The participation of the Saharawi delegation aims at shedding light on the serious violations of human rights perpetrated by the Moroccan occupier against Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

 

Moroccan forces prevent French citizen from entering occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Sept 11, 2014 (SPS) - French citizen Christel Letard was expelled Wednesday evening from the airport of the occupied city of El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, by the Moroccan occupying forces, informed a Saharawi right source.


According to the source, the French national was forced to board the same plane that brought her from the Moroccan city of Casablanca, without giving any reason to this action which violates human rights and freedoms.

School year 2014/15 starts in all Saharawi provinces

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 10, 2014 (SPS) - The academic year 2014-2015 started Sunday morning in all schools in the provinces of the Saharawi Republic (SADR).


The kick-off was given by the Minister of Education Ms. Mariam Salek Hmada.


On Tuesday, the ministry of education organized local conferences in all provinces to prepare for the start of this year’s school year.
