Moroccan occupying authorities expel four human rights activists from the occupied EL Aaiun

Occupied El Aaiun, October 11, 2014 (SPS)- Moroccan occupying forces has expelled Friday evening, four Saharawi human rights activists from entering the occupied city of El Aaiun, coming from the occupied Dakhla.

 


The four activists exposed to a deep inspection by dozens of Moroccan security forces, and they mistreated and repressed, while they were heading to the occupied city of El Aaiun, before they forced to go back to occupied city of Dakhla.

 

Spanish MEP expresses support to Saharawi people right to self-determination

Madrid, October 11, 2014 (SPS) - MEP and member of the North Africa Commission, Teresa Rodriguez, expressed the commitment of her political party to the right of self-determination of the Sahrawi people.

Morocco converted MINURSO to umbrella of colonial occupation (Bukhari Ahmed)

New York, October 11, 2014 (SPS) - Polisario Front Representative to the United Nations Mr. Bukhari Ahmed confirmed that Morocco has over time converted the MINURSO mission to the umbrella of a colonial occupation, during his intervention before the UN General Assembly Fourth Committee.

 

"The MINURSO came to Western Sahara to maintain peace and to organize a referendum on self-determination that Morocco accepted and signed. The facts prove that Morocco has increasingly converted it gradually to the umbrella of a colonial occupation," said Bukhari Ahmed.

Spanish Association organizes a sit-in of protest in front of Moroccan consulate in Bilbao

Gdeim Izik anniversary: Prime Minister reiterates Saharawi people adherence to legitimate struggle

Awserd (Refugee Camps), October 10, 2014 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar has reiterated the adherence of the Sahrawi people to struggle to regain its legitimate rights,  in speech commemorating the 4th anniversary of Gdeim Izik.

 

The Prime Minister underlined that Gdeim Izik was a “strong” message for the Moroccan occupation which is buying time in its plans, refuses mediation of Special Envoy Christopher Ross and impedes the international efforts to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara.

 

Hassiba Boulmerka urges UN Fourth Committee to hold self-determination referendum

New York (United Nations), October 10, 2014 (SPS) – former Algerian athlete Hassiba Boulmerka called in her speech Tuesday before the UN Fourth Committee, Special Political and Decolonization, for the holding of the self-determination referendum in Western Sahara.

 

As a sportsperson and as a woman, she said she hoped “to raise her voice against the illegal occupation by Morocco and the fostering of a referendum that would allow the people to exercise their right to self-determination.”

 

ANEJ demands solution to Western Sahara question

New York (United Nations), October 10, 2014 (SPS) – Ali Sahel, the Algerian National Association for Youth Exchange (ANEJ), called in his speech Tuesday before the UN Fourth Committee, Special Political and Decolonization, for a solution to the question of Western Sahara.   

 

Mr. Sahel said “the hopes prompted by the ceasefire turned out to be an illusion and the insurrection of 2010 along with other demonstrations had been repressed with bloodshed and abuse measures like torture by the Moroccan authorities.”

New York (United Nations), October 10, 2014 (SPS) – Smail Debeche, Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (CNASPS), called for the implementation of United Nations resolutions on Western Sahara in his speech Tuesday before the UN Fourth Committee, Special Political and Decolonization.

 

“The people of Western Sahara were waiting for the United Nations to put into action its resolutions and decisions for self-determination and a referendum,” said Mr. Debeche.

“By signing the ceasefire agreement in 1991, the Saharan people had expressed their confidence in the United Nations, which had determined that a referendum on self-determination should be held in 1992,” said Mr. Ayachi.

New York, Oct 8, 2014 (SPS) - “The people of Western Sahara should be allowed to express their aspirations freely,” said Tuesday the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the UN, in his intervention before the UN Special Committee on Decolonization on Tuesday.


Recalling that Western Sahara is a Non-Self-Governing Territory, Algeria said is puzzled by the Moroccan representative’s effort to reinterpret the right of self-determination.

Brussels, Oct 8, 2014 (SPS) - The European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs has has held a meeting devoted to the study and examination of the situation in Western Sahara, in the light of the ongoing serious developments in the occupied Saharawi territories.


During the meeting, the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, said that the Union supports the UN efforts for a just and lasting political solution to the conflict of Western Sahara.

Prime Minister receives delegation of Norwegian Labour Youth

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 8, 2014 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar received Tuesday evening at his office in Chahid Al Hafed, Saharawi refugee camps, a delegation of the Norwegian Labour Party Youth.


During the meeting, PM said that the Nordic countries must play a more vital role in pushing for a settlement to the Western Sahara issue, given that they are states free from any pressure by the Moroccan regime, like that exerted on France and Spain.
