Cuba, Spain and Italy donate 1,200 tons of sugar and barley for Saharawi refugees

Oran (Algeria), Sept 10, 2014 (SPS) - A total of 1,200 tons of sugar and barley for the benefit of the Saharawi refugees on Wednesday delivered at the port of Oran, Algerian, by the World Food Programme of the United Nations.


These donations announced Wednesday at the port of Oran in the presence of the Italian Ambassador in Algeria, Consul General of Spain in Oran, representatives of the Algerian and Saharawi Red Crescent.

Occupied Western Sahara turned to big prison, despite presence of UN flag (President Mohamed Abdelaziz)

Awserd (refugee camps), Sept 10, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz on Wednesday said that the occupied Saharawi territories are being turned into a “big prison” by Moroccan occupation, despite the presence of the UN flag.


Speaking during the National Cadres’ Conference, held in Awserd, President Mohamed Abdelaziz described as “craziness and adventure” Morocco’s refusal to allow human rights monitoring in the occupied parts of Western Sahara.

POLISARIO Front Representative received at Danish Foreign Ministry

Copenhagen, Sept 9, 2014 (SPS) - Polisario Front’s Representative to Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin, received Tuesday by Mr. Peter E. Eilschow, head of Section in the Department of North Africa and the Middle East (MENA) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, according to a press release of the Saharawi representation to Denmark.


The two parties discussed the latest developments related to the issue of Western Sahara and the UN peace process.

Saharawi Students Union: new elected leadership takes on

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Sept 9, 2014 (SPS) - The outgoing leadership of the Saharawi Students Union (UESARIO) on Tuesday handed over tasks and equipment for the new elected leadership, in the presence of Mr. Salem Labsir, head of the Polisario Front’s Political Organization Secretariat.


The handing over ceremony was attended by members of the National Secretariat, parliamentarians, and cadres in the Saharawi state, as well as former and current leaders of the Union.

HRW urges Morocco to address cases of Saharawi activists imprisoned after unfair trials

New York, Sept 9, 2014 (SPS) - Human Rights Watch (HRW) has urged the Moroccan Government to address the cases of Saharawi political activists imprisoned after unfair trials, highlighting that courts “can’t deliver justice if they ignore allegations that officials tortured the defendant into confessing.”


In a letter sent to the President of the Moroccan Government Abdelilah Benkirane, HRW asked Morocco to address unfair trials of Saharawi civilians in both military and civilian courts, pointing to the case of the activist Abdeslam Loumadi.

UN main task, still that of decolonization of Western Sahara (SPLA Staff)

SADR takes part at emergency meeting of AU Executive Council on Ebola

Addis Ababa, Sept 9, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi Republic (SADR) takes part to an emergency meeting of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) devoted to the fighting of the Ebola disease prevailed in West Africa.


Speaking during the meeting, Saharawi Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek voiced SADR’s solidarity with governments and peoples of West African region, which are affected by the Ebola disease.

SPLA reaffirms willingness to fight against any terrorist threat

Shaheed Hafed, September 8, 2014 (SPS) The Staff of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) reiterated the readiness of the units of the SPLA to defend any terrorist threat, in accordance with the commitments of the Saharawi State in its capacity as a full member of the AU, according to a statement sanctioning the work of a meeting of the SPLA General Staff held Sunday under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic and Supreme commander of the Armed Forces, Mohamed Abdelaziz.

 

CODESA calls to save life of Sahrawi political prisoner

UN will pursue responsibility to enable Saharawi people to right of self-determination (M'hamed Khadad)

Conference on learning progress held in Wilaya of Smara

Wilaya of Smara (Refugee Camps), September 6, 2014 (SPS) - The Ministry of Education has held Saturday the national conference on learning progress which coincides with the opening of the school year 2014-2015 under the theme “Upbringing of children on the path of heroes”.

 

In her opening speech, the Minister of Education, Mariem Salek, highlighted the special importance paid by the Sahrawi government to the field of education and the considerable efforts to improve learning and bring up the children on the path of the 20 May revolution heroes.

 

Assault on young Sahrawi in Boujdour occupied city

Boujdour (Occupied Territories), September 6, 2014 (SPS) - Elements of the Moroccan police assaulted Wednesday young Sahrawi Sidibrahim Lehcini in the main street in the occupied city of Boujdour, according to Sahrawi human rights sources.  

 

The young Sahrawi was taken handcuffed to judicial police headquarters where he was beaten and subjected to ill-treatment by the Moroccan police.   

 

CODESA, ASVDH meet with US and Netherlands embassies in Rabat

Sao Paulo Forum calls Latin America to recognize Saharawi Republic

La Paz (Bolivia), September 5, 2014 (SPS) - The participants at Sao Paulo Forum, attended by 60 political parties and social movements from all Latin American countries, called on the region's governments to recognize the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and to establish diplomatic relations with it.

 

In a final declaration wrapping up the 20th edition of the forum, the participants greeted Saharawi president Mohamed Abdelaziz, calling on the governments of Latin American and Caribbean countries to recognize the SADR and accredit its ambassadors.

Polisario Front urges Security Council to ensure protection of Sahrawis in Moroccan prisons

Shaheed Hafed (Refugee Camps), September 5, 2014 (SPS) - Polisario Front called on the United Nations’ Security Council to ensure the protection of Sahrawi detainees in Moroccan prisons, underlining their dramatic situation, in a communiqué issued at the end of the ninth session of the Polisario Front’s national secretariat.

 

The Polisario Front also denounced the intimidations they are facing and the expulsion of international observers.

 

Brazil’s House of Representatives urges government to recognize SADR

Brasilia, Sept 4, 2014 (SPS) - Brazilian House of Representatives on Wednesday urged the government of its country to recognize the Saharawi Republic (SADR), said the Saharawi ambassador in mission to Brazil Mr. Mohamed Zrug.


The House of Representatives of Brazil asked, in a request delivered to President Dilma Rousseff, the government of Brazil to take “a clear stance” on Western Sahara issue, deploring Morocco’s violations of human rights in the occupied Saharawi territories.

President of Republic names Chair of SADR Petroleum and Mining Authority

Sao Paulo Forum calls for recognition of SADR

La Paz (Bolivia), Sept 4, 2014 (SPS) - Sao Paulo Forum has called upon Latin American states to recognize the Saharawi Republic (SADR), voicing solidarity with the struggle waged by the Saharawi people, under leadership of the Polisario Front and SADR.


Taking place in La Paz, capital of Bolivia, on 25-29 August 2014, the Forum expressed solidarity with the struggle of the Saharawi people for total sovereignty over Western Sahara, occupied by Morocco since 1975.
