President of Republic received by Italian Chamber of Deputies

 Rome (Italy) 15 November 2013 (SPS) - The Italian Chamber of Deputies held Thursday morning a reception to honour President of the Republic Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, and the delegation accompanying him, attended by Italians deputies led by Marina Sereni, vice president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies .

 

Madrid Agreements block Maghreb relationships, Morocco behind instability in the region (Polisario)

Shaheed El Hafed (Saharawi refugee camps), November 14, 2013 (SPS) - Madrid agreements of November 14, 1975 block relationships between the Maghreb region countries, said Thursday member of National Secretriat of the Polisario Front in charge of the  political organization, Bachir Mustapha Essayd, saying that Morocco is the "only" responsible for the instability in the region.

 

Medical missions begin working visit to Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 14, 2013 (SPS) - European medical missions will begin a working visit to the Saharawi refugee camps at the end of November, in the aim to conduct surgeries for the Saharawi refugees, a source of the Ministry of Public Health told SPS.


These missions, coming from Spain, Italy and Sweden, will carry out numerous surgeries related to the kidney, eye surgery and urology at the level of national and local hospitals in the Saharawi refugee camps.

President of Republic arrives in Rome for EUCOCO conference

Rome, Nov 14, 2013 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, arrived Wednesday in Rome, capital of Italy, as part of a working visit lasts for few days, during which will attend the 38th European Conference of Coordination and Support to the Saharawi People (EUCOCO), to be held from 15 to 16 November.

Algeria elected at UN Human Rights Council

New York (United Nations), November 13, 2013 (SPS) - Algeria was elected Tuesday at the UN Human Rights Council, of which members are elected by the UN’s General Assembly.

 

The UN General Assembly elected 14 new members of the Council of Human Rights for 2014-2016.

 

Created in 2006, the Council of Human Rights is composed of 47 members of which the seats are divided into five regional groups (Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latine America, Caribbean and Western Europe with North America).

 

HRW urges Benkirane to respect Sahrawi human rights

Washington, November 13, 2013 (SPS)  - The international human rights organization “Human Rights Watch” (HRW) urged Monday Moroccan Chief of Government Abdelilah Benkirane to respect the human rights of the Saharawi people in their claims for self-determination.

 

This call was launched in a joint letter from HRW with seven other regional and international human rights organizations, in anticipation of the election, Tuesday, of new members of UN Human Rights Council by the UN General Assembly.

 

Closure of country’s southern border: A “sovereign” decision of Algeria

Algiers, November 13, 2013 (SPS) - The closure of the country’s southern border is a “sovereign decision” of Algeria, Minister of Communication Abdelkader Messahel said Sunday in Algiers.

 

“Algeria’s southern border is closed since the beginning of troubles in Northern Mali and they will remain closed for national security reasons. It’s Algeria’s sovereign decision,” said Messahel at a press conference jointly held with Foreign Affairs Minister Ramtane Lamamra.

Morocco-EU fisheries agreement, violation of Sahrawi people’s right to exercise sovereignty over their wealth

Madrid, Nov 12, 2013 (SPS) - Fisheries agreement between EU and Morocco is a “violation of the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to exercise sovereignty over their country’s wealth,” said Polisario Front’s Representative in Spain Bachraya Bayun.


The Sahrawi official, who chaired a meeting on “the inking of a fisheries agreement between the Moroccan Kingdom and the European Union,” emphasized “the dimensions and irregularity of this agreement.”

HRW urges Moroccan Government’s President to respect Saharawi human rights

Washington, Nov 12, 2013 (SPS) - The International ONG “Human Rights Watch” appealed Monday to the President of the Moroccan Government, Abdelilah Benkirane, to respect human rights of the Saharawi people in their claims for self-determination.


This call was made in a joint letter addressed by Human Rights Watch along with seven other regional and international human rights organizations, ahead of the election on Tuesday of the new members of the Human Rights Council by the UN General Assembly, to the Moroccan Prime Minister.
