Dakar, June 5, 2011 (SPS) - Senegal will host Wednesday the second International Conference on single windows (CIGU), at which experiences from various regions of the world on the concepts of electronic single windows will be shared with a view to formalizing the concept.
A single window is a facility that allows parties involved in international trade and transport to lodge standardized information and documents with a single entry point to fulfil all import, export, and transit-related regulatory requirements. If information is electronic, then individual data elements should only be submitted once.
The conference which expects contributions from countries of the different regions with experience in this area, organizations promoting the establishment of single windows as well as international experts, will be preceded in the Senegalese capital by the sixth Forum of the Asia-Europe Alliance for Paperless trade (ASEAL) and the African Forum for Electronic Commerce.
It will also raise awareness to international standards and cross-border trade data.
