Arrest of Saharawi political prisoner in occupied city of Dakhla

Dakhla (occupied territories) Nov 16, 2011 (SPS) -Moroccan authorities of occupation arrested on Monday the Sahrawi human rights activist, Atiq Barai, for his leading role in exposing the  bloody attacks  took place recently in the occupied city of Dakhla, according to Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities abroad.

 

AMDH expresses concern about grave situation of Saharawi political prisoners on hunger strike in Salé(Morocco)

Rabat (Morocco), Nov 16, 2011 (SPS)- The Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) expressed Saturday deep concern about the deteriorating health status of  Saharawi political prisoners on hunger strike since Oct 31 in Salé prison, Morocco.

 

In statement concluded the meeting of its bureau, the Moroccan NGO  underlined that the meeting  highlighted the grave situation of the Saharawi political prisoners subjected to military court, who began an unlimited hunger strike since Oct 23, to demand their release or a fair trial.

 

WFDY expresses support to Saharawi people struggle

Lisbon, Nov 15, 2011 (SPS)- The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) adopted a motion during its 18th General Assembly held in Lisbon (Portugal) November 08-12, expressing support to  the struggle of the Saharawi people to self determination and independence.

 

A delegation representing the Youth Union of  Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro (UJSARIO) took part in the session along with 165 delegates from 86 organizations.

 

President of Republic congratulates Nicaraguan counterpart on re-election

Bir Lehlu (Liberated Territories), Nov 15, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz ,sent Tuesday a congratulatory message to Mr. Daniel Ortega on his reelection as President of Nicaragua.

 

“It is my pleasure to convey to you, on behalf of SADR people and government, the warmest congratulations for the overwhelming victory of the Sandinista Front in the recent presidential elections in the country," wrote President Mohamed Abdelaziz in his letter to Mr.Daniel Ortega.

Saharawi Coordinator with MINURSO concludes a working visit to Austria

Vienna, Nov 14, 2011 (SPS) - The Saharawi Coordinator with the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Mr. M'hamed Khadad, concluded Saturday a two-day working visit to Austria, where he took part in a conference organized by the Austrian organization Volkshilfe, which has strong and close ties with the Saharawi people, informed a statement of the Polisario Front Office in Vienna.

The conference was also attended by Chancellor of Austria, Mr. Werner Faynman, Minister of Social Affairs and secretary general of the Socialist Party.

Danish organizations and personalities demand Denmark intervention to save lives of the Saharawi hunger strikers in Sale’s jail

Stockholm (Denmark), Nov 13, 2011 (SPS) - Five Danish organizations and two parliamentarians called on their country to pressure Morocco to save lives of the Saharawi political prisoners, who are currently holding hunger strike in the Sale jail since last October 31, in a letter addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Mr. Sovndahl Willy, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Navanethem Pillay.

President Mohamed Abdelaziz: Morocco seems displeased from message of Polisario next congress

NGOs demand release of the Saharawi political prisoners

Geneva, Nov 12, 2011 (SPS) - A number of non-governmental organizations in Geneva has demanded the release of the Saharawi political detainees currently in the Moroccan jails or take them to a fair trial in the presence of international observers, confirmed Friday sources there.

The sources said citing a joint statement of NGOs that this call was delivered on the occasion of commemorating the 1st anniversary of the Moroccan attack on Gdeim Izik camp, in suburbs of the occupied city of El Aaiun.

Prime Minister oversees inauguration of the National School of Music

February 27th School (refugee camps), Nov 12, 2011 (SPS) - The Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, overseen Thursday the inauguration of the National School of Music at February 27th School, in the presence of members of the National Secretariat and government along with representatives from Algeria, Spain and USA.

In his intervention, Prime Minister said that the Saharawi music is “a tool for conveying message of the Saharawi people,” underlying that the knowledge for the Saharawi music is “a knowledge of the Saharawi society.”
