 Jubljna (Slovenia), March 22, 2015 (SPS) The Polisario Front representative in Slovenia, Ghada Maalainin, called on the international community to exert political and economic pressure on the Moroccan government to save the peace process in Western Sahar,a during a conference Friday in collaboration with the Slovenian Institute for Studies on Western Sahara at the Ethnographic Museum in Slovenia.

 

Namibia reiterates support to Sahrawi people right to self-determination and independence

 Accra (Ghana), March 22, 2015 (SPS) - The Ambassador of Namibia in Ghana, Mr. Charles Josob, reaffirmed the support of his government, to ''the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and independence, and appealed to the international community to conclude the process of decolonization of Western Sahara as soon as possible, the last colony in Africa ''.

 

Foreign Ministry represents President of Republic at inauguration of Namibia new president

Windhoek, March 22, 2015 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek,represented Saturday the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, at the inauguration of the new President of the Republic of Namibia, Mr Hague Geingob.

 

 The Representative of the President of the Republic transmitted a letter to President of Namibia and held talks with heads of delegations present at the ceremony.

 

US delegation starts visit in Saharawi refugee camps

 Shaheed Elhafed (Refugee Camps), March 21, 2015 (SPS) - A delegation of the United States of America began Saturday a working visit to the Saharawi refugee camps, where they will meet with Sahrawi authorities and visit the institutions of the Saharawi people.

 

 The delegation led by famous lawyer Alan Smith will also meet with officials of the Polisario Front and the Saharawi government in and visit public institutions, the National Museum of Resistance and the Association of Families of Saharawi prisoners and disappeared (AFAPREDESA).

 

Moroccan forces impose tight security siege on occupied Dajla

Dajla (occupied territories), March 20, 2015 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying authorities continue to impose a tight security siege on the occupied city of Dajla, Western Sahara, ahead of any potential demonstration, said a source from the Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.


The move aims to deter the Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories from peacefully protesting for their right to freedom and independence and to call on Moroccan occupation to withdraw from Western Sahara.

Mexico reiterates solidarity with Saharawi people struggle

Managua, March 20, 2015 (SPS) - The Ambassador of the United States of Mexico to Nicaragua, Mr. Miguel Ignacio Díaz Reynoso, has renewed solidarity with the struggle of the Saharawi people for self-determination and independence, during a courtesy visit he paid to the Embassy of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in this country.


The ambassadors examined the very excellent friendship relations already binding both the Saharawi Republic (SADR) and Mexico.

WSRW launches new report revealing 2014 Western Sahara phosphate importers

Wellington (New Zealand), March 20, 2015 (SPS) - Western Sahara Resource Watch (WSRW) Monday published a detailed report revealing all companies that during 2014 illegally purchased phosphates from the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in complicity with Moroccan occupying authorities.


The presentation of the report was taken place in the city Wellington, New Zealand, which is considered the third biggest of the involved importing countries.

Morocco continues to be main supplier of hashish to Europe

Washington, March 19, 2015 (SPS) - Morocco continues to be the main supplier of hashish to Europe and source of origin for most hashish seized on the continent, highlighted the 2014 International Narcotics Control Strategy Report (INCSR), on Wednesday presented by the U.S. Department of State.


The US Stated Department said Morocco ranks second to Afghanistan in the cultivation and production of cannabis resin (hashish).

Demonstration for inclusion of human rights and natural resources in MINURSO mandate

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), March 18, 2015 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar on Wednesday received at his office in Chahid Al Hafed, Saharawi refugee camps, the UNHCR’s Director for Middle East and North Africa Operations, Mr. Amin Awad.


The meeting was also attended by the President of the Saharawi Red Crescent Bouhabaini Yahya and some UNHCR officials.

UN chief did not delegate Douste-Blazy to Crans Montana Forum, confirms deputy spokesman

New York, March 18, 2015 (SPS) - UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq has indicated that Secretary-General Ban-Ki-moon did not delegate Philippe Douste-Blazy or anyone else to represent him or the United Nations at the Crans Montana Forum, held in the occupied city of Dajla on 12-14 March 2015.


In the Daily Press Briefing by the Office of the Spokesperson for the Secretary-Genera, the official explained that Douste-Blazy is on a dollar-a-year contract, and he doesn’t have to vet all of his other activities with the UN.

Moroccan occupying forces crack down on peaceful vigil in occupied Dajla

Dajla (occupied territories), March 18, 2015 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying forces repressed Wednesday a peaceful demonstration in protest to an activity supporting Moroccan occupation, according to a source from the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.


The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the right of self-determination for the Saharawi people and rejecting the Moroccan autonomy plan.

MEP Fernando Maura asks Ban Ki-moon to extend MINURSO mandate

Madrid, March 18, 2015 (SPS) - MEP Fernando Maura on Tuesday urgently called on the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon to extend the prerogatives of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).


In a written letter addressed to the UN chief, MP Maura expressed commitment to continue working so that human rights in Western Sahara are respected.
