East Timor expresses concern about non-application of right to self-determination of Saharawi people

 New York, October 4, 2015 (SPS) Prime Minister in the government of East Timor Mr Rui Maria de Araujo expressed Thursday his country's concern against the deprivation of the Saharawi people of its legitimate rights, primarily the right to self-determination, during his address to the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

 

"In addition to increasing conflicts in the world, few people in the world, in particular Saharawi and Palestinian peoples are deprived of fundamental rights", he regretted.

 

HRW expresses disappointment at Moroccan government demand to suspend its activity

Tunis, 3 Sept 2015 (SPS) - Human Rights Watch has expressed disappointment following a demand from the Moroccan government to suspend the organization’s activity in the country.

 

“Human Rights Watch is disappointed with the demand from the Morocco government’s spokesman in a letter dated September 23, 2015, that Human Rights Watch suspend its activities in the country,” said the organization in a statement Friday.

 

Polisario Front delegation on working visit in Norway

 Oslo (Norway) 2 October 2015 (SPS) A delegation of the Polisario Front led by the Saharawi coordinator with MINURSO, M'Hamed Khaddad, accompanied by the Polisario Front representative in Norway, Dr. Limam Khalil, conducted Wednesday and Thursday a working visit in Norway, indicated a Sahrawi diplomatic source in Norway. 

 

 The Saharawi delegation was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway. During its stay, the Polisario delegation held meetings with several political parties, trade unions and Norwegian civil society.

 

Angola urges UN to accelerate decolonization of last colony in Africa

New York (United Nations), October 1, 2015 (SPS) The Republic of Angola on Thursday urged the United Nations to accelerate the decolonization of the last colony in Africa, to enable the Saharawi people TO exercise its right to self-determination and independence, stressed the Vice President of Angola, Domingos Vicente, in his address to the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.

Saharawi Jurists Union condemns Saleh Lbasir sentence

Chahid Hafid, October 01, 2015 (SPS) - the Union of Saharawi Jurists on Thursday has denounced the unfair sentence against the political and media Saharawi prisoner, Saleh Lbasir, according to a SJU statement.

 


The Union has strongly condemned Salah’s sentence, assuming the Moroccan state full responsibility for his life and safety and calling to release him immediately, urging international human rights organization and association to exert pressure on Morocco to release all Sahrawi political prisoners.

Moroccan occupation authorities arrest Sahrawi young in the occupied Dajla

Occupied Dajla, Sept 30, 2015 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation authorities on Tuesday, arrested a group of Sahrawi young in Libaichat neighborhood in the occupied city of Dajla where Sahrawi demonstrators has organized a peaceful protest demanding self-determination of the Sahrawi people and sympathizing with  the families of the  Sahrawi martyrs Hassan Luali and  Mohamed Lemin Maichan, reported CODESA.

Tanzania calls upon UN to implement its decisions on Western Sahara

New York (United Nations), Sept 30, 2015 (SPS) - the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. JAKAYA MRISHO KIKWETE said on Tuesday that another outstanding matter which this Organization has to ensure that it does not continue to be left unresolved is the issue of Western Sahara.

 

 

In his address before the 70th session of UN general assembly, Mr. JAKAYA MRISHO KIKWETE went on saying that “The lack of movement on the side of the United Nations to implement its decisions on the matter is both regrettable and incomprehensible.”

 

Saharawi political prisoner Mohammed Boreal begins an open hunger strike

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), Sept 29, 2015 (SPS) - Saharawi political prisoner Mohammed Boreal on Monday has started an open hunger strike in Moroccan Salé jail, said Sahrawi human rights source.

the same source added that Boreal has sent letters to  various concerned parties about the reasons that forced him to enter into this open hunger strike, assuming  the Moroccan authorities the fully responsibility of his strike’s results.

 

 

We urge the United Nations to finalize the decolonization of Western Sahara, says MUGABE

Health state of political prisoner Sidi Abdeljalil is "regrettable"

 Rabat, 28Sept 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoner Sidi Abdelyalil Laarosi fainted Saturday in his cell in the Moroccan prison of Sale1 as result of his deteriorated health, according to human rights sources.

 

 The source indicated that the Saharawi political prisoner did not receive the necessary medical care when needed.
