Smara(occupied territories), 08 Sept 2015 (SPS) -  Saharawi citizen  Afneina Lakhdar   in ninth month of pregnancy with her son Al-Busati Khalihenna, were victims of  a brutal aggression by  Moroccan forces, after that they were taken to hospital, said source from the Occupied Territories.

These attacks, assaults and threats are part of the Moroccan occupation policies which impose the occupied city of Smara in a strong military siege. (SPS)

Smara (Occupied Territories), 7 Sept 2015 (SPS) - The Students in the occupied city of Smara organized a peaceful demonstration Sunday in the neighborhoods of Tantan, Said Dambar and Asakani to condemn the holding of the Moroccan elections in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

The participants in the protest raised flags of the Saharawi Republic and chanted slogans such as calling for an independent Sahrawi state.

Shaheed Hafed (Refugee Camps), Sept 5, 2015 (SPS) - Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, held Saturday a working session with members of the Polisario Front negotiating delegation, in Shaheed Hafed, Sahrawi refugee camps.

New York, 6 Sept 2015 (SPS) - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced Friday the appointment of Major General Muhammad Tayyab Azam of Pakistan as the Force Commander of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).

Major General Azam will succeed Major General Major Imam Edy Mulyono of Indonesia, whose tour of duty ends on 17 September 2015. 

 Shaheed Hafed, 5 Sept 2015 (SPS) - Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General Mr. Christopher Ross arrived Saturday in the Saharawi refugee camps.

 The UN envoy who is on a working visit to the camp three days was received by the Polisario representative to the UN, Ahmed Boukhari.

The UN envoy will hold this afternoon a meeting with the members of the Saharawi negotiating delegation and is expected to hold meetings with officials of the SADR and Polisario. (SPS)

Addis Ababa, 3 Sep. 2015 (SPS) - The African Union (AU) has issued a legal opinion agreeing that any exploration and exploitation of natural resources in Western Sahara by Morocco is illegal as it violates international law and resolutions of the United Nations and the African Union relating to the right to self-determination and permanent sovereignty of the people of Western Sahara over their natural resources.

Algiers, 2 Sep. 2015 (SPS) - Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Malin counterpart Ibrahim Boubacar Keita have reaffirmed support to the efforts of the United Nations to find a mutually acceptable political solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.  

Copenhagen, (Denmark) Sept 1st, 2015 – The Representative of POLISARIO front to Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin, was received Tuesday by Mr. Christian Juhl, member of the Danish Parliament and spokesman on development of the Red-Green Alliance Party.

The meeting focused on the latest developments in Western Sahara, the ongoing obstacles put by the government of Morocco to hinder the UN peace process in Western Sahara, the human rights violations and the theft of the Saharawi natural resources.

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 31 August, 2015 (SPS) - Minister of Defense Mohamed Lamine Buhali is participating in the regional meeting of AU ministers of defense on the strengthening of the capabilities of rapid deployment of AU peacekeeping forces, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 31 August to 1 September 2015.

The minister of defense is participating in this meeting at an official invitation from his Ethiopian counterpart Siraj Fegeta as his country is the host of the event.

El Aaiun (Saharawi refugee camps), August 28 2015 (SPS) – President of Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, attended Thursday evening the funeral service of Ahmed Kaid Saleh, in the cemetery of the Wilaya of El Aaiun, Sahrawi refugee camps.

The deceased was a counselor to the Presidency, a founding member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia Hamra and Rio de Oro (POLISARIO), and had been a member of the political bureau of the Polisario Front.

June 9th School (refugee camps), August 26, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi National Council (parliament) has decided to form a Saharawi-Mauritanian parliamentary committee for friendship and brotherhood, said a statement issued on Wednesday.

Salé (Morocco), August 26, 2015 (SPS) - A delegation of the Basque organization “Askapena” held Tuesday a meeting with families of the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik, informed the Committee of the above-mentioned families.


The 4-hour meeting examined the situation of Saharawi political prisoners inside Moroccan jails, especially of which the group of Gdeim Izik.


It also focused on the difficulties faced by these families to have the chance to visit their imprisoned sons.

Geneva, August 26, 2015 (SPS) - By being recognized by Geneva Convention, the Frente Polisario gets better arguments to advocate for the need to conduct a referendum, said Dr. Anne Peters, Professor of International Law at the Swiss University of Basel.


For the international lawyer, the Polisario Front has now better arguments to advocate for the need to organize a vote on Western Sahara’s future.

Semi medical school (refugee camps), August 27, 2015 (SPS) - The 4th edition of the Summer University of Saharawi Student Cadres kicked off Tuesday in the semi-medical school of martyr Ahmed Abdelfatah under the title: “youth and students……betting on the present to build the future.”

This annual university aims to strengthen capacity and knowledge of members of the Saharawi Students Union (UESARIO).
