Angola urges UN to accelerate decolonization of last colony in Africa

New York (United Nations), October 1, 2015 (SPS) The Republic of Angola on Thursday urged the United Nations to accelerate the decolonization of the last colony in Africa, to enable the Saharawi people TO exercise its right to self-determination and independence, stressed the Vice President of Angola, Domingos Vicente, in his address to the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.

 

 "Angola attaches great interest to the question of Western Sahara", he said, calling the United Nations to respond to the aspirations of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and freedom.

 

The Angolan vice-president also called on the parties to the conflict, the Frente Polisario and the Kingdom of Morocco, to redouble their efforts for the revival of negotiations to find a definitive solution to the conflict, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly.
