NUSW participates in annual meeting of African civil society actors

Djibouti, September 20, 2015 (SPS) The Secretary General of the National Union of Saharawi Women (NUSW), Fatma El Mehdi, participated in the annual meeting of the Actors of African civil society held Saturday in Djibouti.

 

 The meeting is part of the consultations on the partnership between Africa and Europe and the participation of African civil society as an active player in important issues, including the identification of the objectives of the Partnership between Africa and the world.

 

South Africa participates in International Festival of Culture and Popular Arts in province of Boujdour

 Algiers, September 19, 2015 (SPS) - The South African Ambassador to Algeria Mr. Dennis T. Dlomo affirmed Saturday the participation of his country in the next edition of the International Festival of Culture and Popular Arts to be held on October 8, in the Wilaya of Boujdour, Saharawi refugee camps.

 

 Mr. Dlomo said after his reception at the SADR embassy in Algiers by the Minister of Culture, Khadija Hamdi, that South Africa will be represented in this event by a significant cultural delegation, including politicians and a musical group.

 

Solidarity Platform with Saharawi People calls for respect of international law for referendum in Western Sahara

Paris, September 20, 2015 (SPS) The platform for Solidarity with the Saharawi People in France called the French president to intervene with the Moroccan authorities for the respect of international law for the rapid holding of the referendum on self-determination to finally allow the Sahrawi people to freely decide their future, during his visit to Morocco from 19 to 20 September.

Saharawi Coordinator with MINURSO holds talks with Finnish officials and representatives of political parties

 Helsinki, 19 September 2015 (SPS) The Saharawi Coordinator with MINORSO, M'hamed Khaddad, held several meetings with officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of Finnish political parties, as part of a four-day visit in Finland.

 

 The Saharawi official met with the Finnish Deputy Foreign Minister, Raili Lahnalampi, former Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja and representatives of political parties, trade unions and youth organizations, as well as parliamentarians and Finnish media.

Sahrawi masses organize peaceful demonstrations in occupied Smara

Occupied Smara, Sept 17, 2015 (SPS) - the activities of the independence uprising in the occupied Smara today, has organized massive demonstrations, according to Sahrawi human rights source.


The demonstrators chanted various national slogans calling for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and freedom.


They also voiced their solidarity with all the Saharawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails.

As Nkosi Albert Luthuli said at the 42nd ANC Annual Conference; “Our interest in freedom is not confined to ourselves only. We are interested in the liberation of all oppressed people in the whole of Africa and in the world as a whole”.

 

CODESA meets political adviser at the US embassy in Rabat

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories) Sept 15, 2015 (SPS) - members of The Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) on Tuesday met, the political counselor at the US embassy in Rabat, reported CODESA source. 



During the meeting, the pair has discussed the situation of human rights in Western Sahara and the ongoing Moroccan violations of human rights against the Saharawi civilians in the occupied territory.

 

 

Spain supports UN efforts for Saharawi people self-determination

Madrid, Sept 15 2015 (SPS) .- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Manuel García-Margallo on Monday, reiterated before the special UN envoy for Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, the support of Spain to a "fair" and "mutually acceptable" solution that addresses the "self-determination" of the Saharawi people.

Geneva(Switzerland) Sept 15, 2015 (SPS) - The Federation of Spanish Associations for Human Rights, called for the dissemination of the High Commissioner for human Rights Mission of the UN reports on the territory of Western Sahara, during the works of the 30th session of the Council of the human rights in Geneva, Switzerland.



“Human rights abuses are still ongoing in the occupied part of Western Sahara and it is in deterioration day after day.”  The Federation indicated in its intervention.
