President of Republic condolences US President on Boston’s explosions

Bir Lahlu (Liberated Territories) April17, 2013(SPS) President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front,Mohamed Abdelaziz, expressed his  condolences  to US President Barack Obama, on the Boston’s explosions.
 

“ It's with profound grief and pain that we received the news of the two deadly explosions in Boston, causing casualties among innocent citizens and seaming terror and fear in the souls of the peaceful population and the Boston Marathon runners.” said President Mohamed Abdelaziz, in his message to President Obama.
 

International conference in support of Sahrawi women’s resistance from April 18 to 21 in Algiers

Algiers ,April16,2013(SPS) - The international conference in support of Sahrawi women’s resistance will be held on April 18 to 21 at the same time in Algiers and in the Sahrawi refugee camps, Secretary General of Sahrawi women Association Fatima Al-Mahdi announced Monday in Algiers.
 

This conference, the third after that held in 2010 and 2011, will be organized under the theme “Situation and right of Sahrawi women to resist,” Al-Mahdi told a press conference at the Sahrawi Embassy in Algiers.
 

Over 20 tonnes of food aid to Saharawi refugees

Shahid Alhafed (Saharawi Refugee Camps) April16,2013(SPS) - More than 20 tonnes of foreign humanitarian aid will be shipped in the coming months to the Saharawi refugee camps of Tindouf, President of Saharawi Red Crescent (CRS) Buhobeini Yahia has said.
 

The total food needs of the Saharawi refugee camps are estimated at more than 29 tonnes, and the programme covering those needs is valued at about USD35 million, the source said.
 

Algeria’s Future Front reaffirms support to self-determination of Saharawi people

Algiers, April 15, 2013 (SPS) - President of Algeria’s Future Front Party Abdel-Aziz Belaid reaffirmed support to the right of Saharawi people to freedom and independence, in a meeting on Sunday at the party’s headquarters with the Saharawi Ambassador in Algiers Mr. Brahim Ghali.


“The position of the Front stems from the position of Algerian state that defends the right of peoples to self-determination, notably the Saharawi people,” said Mr. Belaid.

Preparatory political conferences for elections of heads of municipalities start today

Moroccan flags removed from around MINURSO headquarters in Western Sahara

El Aaiun (occupied territories), April 15, 2013 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities removed Thursday its flags from around the headquarters of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), according to a source from the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.


“On Thursday afternoon, April 11, there noticed the removing of some 50 Moroccan flags that were surrounding the MINURSO headquarters in the so-called El Massira quarter,” said the same source.

UN called to manage Western Sahara’s natural resources until the status has been resolved, confirms NGO

London, April 14, 2013 (SPS) - Western Sahara Resource Watch confirmed, in a letter addressed Saturday to the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. Ban Ki-moon, that the lack of legal and legitimate administering power in Western Sahara “bestows a specific duty upon the United Nations to manage the resources until the status of the territory has been resolved.”

“Network of French youth in solidarity with Saharawi people” created in Paris

Paris, April 12, 2013 (SPS) - A network of the French youth who are in solidarity with the Saharawi cause created Friday night in Paris at a meeting attended by students and representatives of associations from several French cities.


These young French decided to set up this network following the visit they made to the Saharawi refugee camps on March, where they noticed the extremely precarious conditions of Saharawi populations and their commitment to cling to the self-determination referendum.

Morocco is responsible for prolonging Western Sahara conflict, says Mauritanian diplomat

Algiers, April 13, 2013 (SPS) - The former Mauritanian Ambassador to a number of African countries Mr. Mohamed Lemine Ould El Kateb held Morocco responsible for prolonging the conflict of Western Sahara, reported Saturday Algerian newspaper of Al Chourouk.


Mauritanian diplomat stressed that Morocco does not demonstrate any flexibility in dealing with the file, warning of the dangerous impact if the situation remained unchanged.

POLISARIO 40th anniversary celebrated in Accra

Accra, April 13, 2013 (SPS) - At the initiative of Ghana Forum for Western Sahara, a ceremony was organized Wednesday in the capital of Ghana, Accra, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Frente POLISARIO and show solidarity with the Saharawi people.


The ceremony was attended by SADR Ambassador in Accra Mr. Mahjub Sidina, along with a number of senior personalities from Ghana’s political parties, politicians, activists and journalists.

Ban Ki-moon reiterates call for solution guaranteeing Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination

New York, April09,2013(SPS) - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has reiterated Tuesday call for "just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution that will guarantee the right of the people of Western Sahara to Self-determination," and insisted on the "urgent need for independent, impartial, comprehensive and sound monitoring of human rights situation in the occupied Western Sahara."
