Algiers, April 15, 2013 (SPS) - President of Algeria’s Future Front Party Abdel-Aziz Belaid reaffirmed support to the right of Saharawi people to freedom and independence, in a meeting on Sunday at the party’s headquarters with the Saharawi Ambassador in Algiers Mr. Brahim Ghali.
“The position of the Front stems from the position of Algerian state that defends the right of peoples to self-determination, notably the Saharawi people,” said Mr. Belaid.
He went on saying that the defense of Saharawi people’s right to freedom, independence and building his independent state, the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, are included within the charters and programmes of Algeria’s Future Front.
Mr. Belaid also expressed willingness to cooperate and provide all ways of assistance, in anywhere and anytime.
From his part, Saharawi Ambassador Mr. Brahim Ghali gave a detailed presentation on the latest developments of Saharawi cause, including the recent visit by the UN Envoy Christopher Ross, UN Secretary General’s report and the situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
Mr. Ghali stressed the need for the MINURSO Mission to play its full role in the protection of Saharawis and report on the atrocities committed by Moroccan occupation authorities against Saharawi citizens, recalling to the trials carried out by the Moroccan military courts in the courts in the right of Gdeim Izik detainees.
He, on other hand, indicated that France still encourages Moroccan regime to continue its intransigence and disregard to the dictates of international legitimacy. (SPS)
