Submitted on

Accra, April 13, 2013 (SPS) - At the initiative of Ghana Forum for Western Sahara, a ceremony was organized Wednesday in the capital of Ghana, Accra, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Frente POLISARIO and show solidarity with the Saharawi people.

The ceremony was attended by SADR Ambassador in Accra Mr. Mahjub Sidina, along with a number of senior personalities from Ghana’s political parties, politicians, activists and journalists.

Speaking during the event, Saharawi Ambassador gave a detailed presentation on the various aspects of Western Sahara conflict, calling on France to stop opposing the establishment of UN mechanism of human rights protection within MINURSO prerogatives.

Kofi Atta, representing the Forum, said that the question of Western Sahara is a matter of decolonization, asking to enable the Saharawi people to decide his future.

He therefore condemned Moroccan occupation, describing as “unacceptable” the fact that this phenomenon still exists in the 21st century.

A documentary about the Saharawi people was also screened.

At the end, the presence decided to launch a campaign to collect signatures to be addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations to carry him to speed up the decolonization process in Western Sahara. (SPS)
