Paris, April 13, 2013 (SPS) - Rallies in support to Sahrawi people and in solidarity with political prisoners, will be staged in Paris near the French National Assembly on Wednesday 17 April and near the Fountain of Innocents on 20 Saturday, to demand the release of Gdeim Izik's Sahrawi prisoners, who were sentenced to heavy prison terms by the military court of Rabat in Morocco.
This protest rallies have been initiated by the Platform of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, which "condemns the iniquitous verdict and the violent repression" by the Moroccan security forces against Sahrawi civilians, and called for greater mobilization to support the Sahrawi people in their struggle.
This initiative is also part of the international week of solidarity with political prisoners, scheduled from 14 to 21 April in the French capital.
The organizers said that the rallies aim at demanding the release of the Sahrawi political prisoners, the end of repression and the respect for the fundamental freedoms in the occupied Sahrawi territories. (SPS)
