Algerian Minister Delegate Abdelkader Messahel holds talks with Christopher Ross

Algiers, March 31, 2013 (SPS) - Deputy Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Mr. Abdelkader Messahel held talks Sunday in Algiers with the Personal Envoy of UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Ambassador Christopher Ross, as quoted by Algerian Press Agency (APS).


The meeting took place at the headquarters of Algerian foreign ministry.


Last March20th, Mr. Ross began a tour in the region, notably in Morocco, occupied territories of Western Sahara and to the Sahrawi refugee camps.

Campaign in solidarity with Saharawi political prisoners launched in Italy

UN Envoy for Western Sahara Christopher Ross expected today in Algiers

Algiers, March 31, 2013 (SPS) - Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Western Sahara, Christopher Ross, is expected to arrive today, Sunday, in Algiers as part of a regional tour.


Mr. Ross will hold talks with Algerian officials on the question of Western Sahara.
At the end of his visit to the Saharawi refugee camps, Mr. Ross stated that his visit aims at “seeking solutions to the Western Sahara issue in line with the Security Council’s resolutions.”

Bir Lehlou (liberated territories), March 30, 2013 (SPS) - The President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz described the recent aggression against a group of Saharawi women, who were peacefully demonstrating at occupied El Aaiun’s streets, as the “shameful act” which does not honour Morocco nor its authentic people, in an open letter sent Saturday to the Moroccan King.

Shahid Alhafed, March29, 2013(SPS) Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Coordinator with the MINURSO, Mhamed Khadad , on Thursday received  the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara and Head of MINURSO, Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber.
 

The conversations between the two parties focused on the situation in Western Sahara and the efforts of the United Nations to solve the conflict on bases of the UN resolutions.
 

UK reiterates its support to Saharawi people’s right to self-determination

London (UK) March28, 2013(SPS) the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Mr. Alistair Burt, on Tuesday reiterated his Country’s position of supporting the Saharawi People’s right to self-determination.
 

  “We strongly support UN-led efforts to encourage agreement on a long-lasting and mutually-acceptable political solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.” he said in written answers to questions raised at Westminster Parliament by Mr. Mark William from Liberal Democrat.

Shahid Alhafed (Saharawi refugee camps) March 27, 2013 (SPS) - President of the Republic , Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz on Tuesday evening received at the Presidency the UN Secretary General’s personal envoy to Western Sahara Mr. Christopher Ross, at the end of two -day visit to the Saharawi Refugee Camps.  
 

The meeting was attended by Members of the Bureau of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front while attended from the UN the delegation accompanying Mr. Ross.

Tunis, March 26, 2013 (SPS) A Saharawi delegation takes part at  the 2013 World Social Forum "WSF-Tunis 2013" to promote the Saharawi issue  among  different organizations participating in this international event.
 

On this occasion, the Saharawi delegation will hold several workshops and activities and will meet with representatives of various international organizations in order to raise the different aspects of the Saharawi cause.

Smara (Saharawi Refugee Camps) March26, 2013(SPS) - President of Saharawi Consultative Council (CCS) Moulay Bibatt said Tuesday that "Saharawis’ patience has reached its limits" considering their critical situation.
 

"Saharawi people’s patience has reached its limits and human rights abuses and Saharawi land usurpation can no longer be tolerated," Bibatt told reporters following a meeting with United Nations Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Christopher Ross.

El Aaiun (occupied territories), March 24, 2013 (SPS) - UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy Christopher Ross met Saturday in occupied El Aaiun, capital of Western Sahara, with members of the Committee of Families of Gdeim Izik Detainees, in the context of his second visit to the occupied territories of Western Sahara.


Representatives of the Committee informed Mr. Ross about the procedures of the unfair trial and heavy sentences pronounced by Moroccan martial court in Rabat against the Saharawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik.
