ÓSF denounces Morocco’s military operation against Saharawi civilians

Dublin (Ireland), 23 November 2020 (SPS) - Youth wing of the Irish political party Sinn Féin (ÓSF) strongly condemned the military attack conducted by Moroccan forces in the Saharawi buffer zone of Guergerat, with aim to crack down on peaceful civilians, who were peacefully protesting against the illegal breach in the region.

Rome, 23 November 2020 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Gali, said that Morocco has declared war on the Saharawi people after its military offensive attack on civilians in Guergerat, confirming that the Saharawi People’s Liberation Army is firmly responding in self-defense.

SKP expresses support to Saharawi people

El Guerguerat: Mauritania expresses reservations about 2nd Morocco's sand wall

Nouakshott (Mauritania), 23 November 2020 (SPS) - Mauritania has expressed reservations about the second sand wall built by Morocco too close to the border of El Guerguerat, online newspaper Zahraa Chankit reported Sunday, stressing Nouakshott's "dissatisfaction" with such a territorial expansion.

Sahrawi president holds Morocco responsible for outcome of situation in region

Rome (Italy), 23 November 2020 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) Brahim Ghali said Morocco "assumes full responsibility" for the outcome of the situation in the region after it had declared, on November 13, war on Sahrawi people and the military aggression on the civilian protesters near the illegal breach of El-Guerguerat, in the southwest of Western Sahara.

Cuba reaffirms support to Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination

Havana, 23 November 2020 (SPS) - Cuba reaffirmed its support to reach a solution in Western Sahara that guarantees the Sahrawi people’s self-determination, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saturday in a statement.
The statement, taken up by the press news agency Prenda Latina, expresses Cuba “concern” about the events which occurred in Western Sahara in the last few days following the Moroccan military aggression in El-Guerguerat.

Reacting to statements by the spokesperson of the Moroccan occupying government, Mr. Selma reaffirmed SADR’s will to continue to use its right of self-defense in accordance with the provisions of the AU Constitutive Law.

World March of Women expresses solidarity with Sahrawi people

Maputo (Mozambique), 21 November 2020 (SPS) - The World March of Women has expressed its solidarity with the Saharawi people, stressing that this people has every right to defend themselves and to fight against the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
“We manifest our solidarity with the Sahrawi people: this land is their land and, for that, they have the right to defend themselves and fight against the Moroccan occupation in their territory,” the World March of Women said in a statement published on its official website.

UK Government calls for the return to the UN-led political process to reach a political solution for the people of Western Sahara

London, 21 November 2020 (SPS) – The United Kingdom Ministry for Middle East & North Africa has called Thursday for the ‘’return to the UN-led political process as soon as possible, in order to reach a long-term political solution for the people of Western Sahara’’
Minister for Middle East & North Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, James Cleverly tweeted saying ‘’ We are closely monitoring the situation in Guerguerat, Western Sahara.

BFTU demands Morocco’s immediate withdrawal from Western Sahara

Gaborone (Botswana), 21 November 2020 (SPS) - Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) called on the United Nation and African Union to assume responsibility on putting pressure to withdraw to its internationally-recognized borders and respect its neighbours, to ensure peace, security and stability in the region, the continent and the entire world.
BFTU urged Morocco “to withdraw to its internationally recognized boundaries per international law and respect its neighbours for the sake of peace and security in the region, Africa and the world.”

Units of Sahrawi People's Liberation Army continue to shell several positions of Moroccan occupation forces

Bir-Lahlou (SADR Liberated Territories), 21 November 2020 (SPS) - The Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) units continued intense attacks on various positions of the Moroccan occupation forces along the Wall of Humiliation and Shame, where the enemy's sites came under direct shelling by weapons of the SPLA fighters, according to the Military communiqué No. 08 of the National Ministry of Defense. 

South African political parties denounce Morocco ceasefire violation

Pretoria, 21 November 2020 (SPS) - The coalition of the major political parties in South Africa on Friday staged a demonstration outside the Moroccan embassy in Pretoria to denounce Morocco’s violation of the ceasefire agreement in Western Sahara.
In a statement issued on the occasion, the South African political forces expressed support to the right for freedom and independence of the Saharawi people.
The statement urged the international community to put an end to the suffering of the Saharawi people.
