Havana, 23 November 2020 (SPS) - Cuba reaffirmed its support to reach a solution in Western Sahara that guarantees the Sahrawi people’s self-determination, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saturday in a statement.
The statement, taken up by the press news agency Prenda Latina, expresses Cuba “concern” about the events which occurred in Western Sahara in the last few days following the Moroccan military aggression in El-Guerguerat.
The text underlines that “Cuba reaffirms its ongoing support to find a solution to the issue of Western Sahara to ensure the Sahrawi people’s legitimate right to slef-determination.”
This support, said the ministry, complies with the goals and principles of the UN Charter, notably the Resolution 1514 of the general assembly, entitled “Declaration on the granting of independence to colonial peoples and countries.” (SPS)
