Berlin, 2 November 2020 (SPS) - German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth expressed the German government's regret over the status quo marking the conflict in Western Sahara.
Answering a question of Heik Hansel, a member of the Bundestag from the radical left party "Die Linke" on the Sahrawi conflict, Michael Roth said that the vacancy of the post of the UN Special Envoy for Western Sahara undermines the universally recognized successes of former special envoy, German Horst Koehler.

CNASPS disappointed at lack of will by Security Council

Algiers, 2 November 2020 (SPS) - The members of the Algerian National Committee for Solidarity with the Saharawi People (CNASPS) noted, with a "deep disappointment, the lack of will on the part of the UN Security Council" to find, in a concrete and urgent way, a just, equitable solution, in line with the international law, to Western Sahara conflict, and to quickly activate the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) in terms of the organization of a referendum on self-determination, the committee said Monday in a statement.

New York (United Nations) 31 October 2020 (SPS)- The Russian Federation stressed in its explanation of vote Thursday in participation to the discussion of a new resolution by the Security Council on Western Sahara, that Russia abstained from voting Friday labeling the text as biased and partial.
Russia stressed that “in recent years, resolutions on renewal of MINURSO mandate received amendments that, in our view, affect Security Council’s unbiased and impartial approach to the issue of Western Sahara.”

Moscow, Oct29, 2020 (SPS) - The International Coordination of the Moscow Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Russia reiterated, on Tuesday, its support for the inalienable right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination and independence.
In a message addressed to the representative of the Frente POLISARIO to the Russian Federation, the Coordination Committee affirmed its "solidarity with the Saharawi people in their struggle to obtain their right to freedom, independence and a decent life in their country."
