Saharawi coordinator with MINURSO in visit to Moscow

Moscow, April 14, 2016  (SPS) -The Saharawi Coordinator with the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Mr. Mohamed Khaddad, was received yesterday  in Moscow by Mr. Mijail Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy of the President for Middle East and African countries, accompanied by several officials of his ministry.

Exerting pressure on Morocco to lead it to respect human rights in Sahrawi territories

Algiers, April 14, 2016 (SPS) - Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic to Algiers Bechraya Hammoudi Beyoune called Wednesday to exert more pressure on the Moroccan occupier to lead it to comply with the international law and respect the human rights violated in the occupied Sahrawi territories openly and publicly.
 

The Saharawi cause presents in the second African students Forum in Cuba

Havana (Cuba), April 13, 2016 (SPS) - The second forum of African students studying in Cuba has seen a strong presence of solidarity with the Saharawi cause in the international camp d’Anonao Julio Mella, under the slogan "Africa we want."
 
Several political and cultural activities of this event focused on solutions to obstacles facing  the development and the establishment of lasting peace for all peoples of African solutions.
 
 

International Red Cross organizes information day in Health Complex "Bachir Saleh"

ChahId El Hafed, April 13, 2016  (SPS) - The International Red Cross -Office Tindouf organized Wednesday an open information day in the Health complex  Bachir Saleh, attended by the Minister of Health, Mr. Mohamed Lamin Dadi and members of the CRI as well as health officials and workers.
 
The information day has focused on explaining the work carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and rehabilitation services, orthopedics, physiotherapy for mine victims of war.

AU’s advisory opinion on respect of human rights in Western Sahara broached by Khadad in Moscow

Moscow, April 13, 2016 (SPS) - The African Union’s advisory opinion, calling to respect human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, and condemning the illegal exploitation by Morocco of Sahrawi natural resources, was examined in Moscow by the Sahrawi coordinator with MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara), M’hamed Khadad, and the Russian official Vasily Kuznetsov. 
 

Danish companies criticised for investing in occupied Western Sahara

Copenhagen (Denmark), 13 April 2016 (SPS)–  Copenhagen post newspaper wrote in article published Tuesday that at least seven banks and 20 pension companies from Denmark are investing in companies which, against international law, are taking part in the extraction of natural resources from Western Sahara.
 

Saharawi people hope that Ban Ki Moon statements will result in "real decisions"

Algiers, April 13, 2016 (SPS) - The Saharawi Ambassador in Algiers, Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoune, said Tuesday that the Saharawi people hope that the statements of Secretary General Ban Ki Moon during his last visit to the Saharawi territories will lead to "practical and effective decisions "that allow Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.
 

UN Security Council holds a closed meeting about the developments of the Saharawi cause

New York, April 13, 2016 (SPS) - the UN Security Council on Wednesday will examine in a closed meeting the recent developments concerning the question of Western Sahara, at the request of Venezuela.
 
The meeting comes at a time of waiting the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon to submit his report on the conflict in Western Sahara before the issuance of a new resolution on 28 April on the conflict in Western Sahara.SPS

Interior Minister oversees the closing of a training course for the National Police

National Police School (Saharawi refugee camps), April 12, 2016 (SPS) -The Minister of Interior, Mr. Hamma Salam, oversaw Monday , with the General Director of the National Police, Mr. Mahmud Abdi, the closing of a training course for the Regional Police Directorate of the Wilaya of Smara.
Said training course is part of the training plan of the Interior Ministry aiming at develop the capacities of members of the police in the different fields of their function as well as increasing the level of professionalism of the agents on the ground.

Spain Youth Council calls its government to recognize SADR

Zimbabwe Supports Saharawi Republic

ZIMBABWE has pledged to support the people of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic in the fight against its imperial occupier, Morocco, a senior Government official has said. Briefing journalists after a meeting with the outgoing Saharawi ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mohamed Cheij Saleh, at his Munhumutapa Offices in Harare on Friday, Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Christopher Mushohwe said Zimbabwe had always been behind the people of Saharawi since independence.

American Senators called on Ban Ki-moon to intervene on dismantling of MINURSO

Washington, 10 April 2016 (SPS) - Members of the American Senate called, on Saturday, the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to intervene on the danger posed by the dismantling of the United Nations Mission for the referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to peacekeeping in the occupied Sahrawi territories, Polisario Front representatives in Washington told APS.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General, influential American senators, including Republican James Inhofe, warned against Morocco’s attempts to dismantle the MINURSO.

African Union urges for activation of Committee of Wise on Western Sahara

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 10 April 2016 (SPS) - African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPCS) called for "activating" the Committee of the Wise on Western Sahara, made up of African leaders, to speed up decolonization process in the territory.
At a meeting Wednesday on Western Sahara, AU Council of Peace and Security has called for the "activation" of Africa's Committee of the Wise on Western Sahara in order to undertake consultations with the concerned parties and reach, as soon as possible, a solution to the Saharawi issue."
