Algeria, April 25, 2016 (SPS) – the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament), Mr. Abdelkader Bensalah reiterated on Sunday his country unconditional support to Saharawi people, during his meeting with Sahrawi delegation headed by Speaker of the Sahrawi National Council Khatri Addouh accompanied with Sahrawi ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Bacharaya Hamudi Bayun.
From his part, Khatri Addouh hailed the Algerian firm position towards the just issue of the Sahrawi people.

Algiers, April 24, 2016 (SPS) - Speaker of the Sahrawi National Council Khatri Addouh will pay a three-day visit to Algeria as from Sunday, at the invitation of Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) Abdelkader Bensalah, said the Upper house in a statement Saturday.
During his visit, Addouh will hold discussion with members of the Parliament and the Government, added the statement.SPS

Banjul (Gambia), April 24, 2016 (SPS) - The African Commission on Human Rights and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) called on the UN to set a date for holding the referendum on self-determination for the people of Western Sahara and to find an appropriate response to issues related to respect for human rights and the illegal exploitation of natural resources of the territory, in accordance with the decision of the AU conference of June 2014.
 

El Aaiun (occupied territories),  April 24, 2016. (SPS)  - Four human rights activists were arrested on Friday by Moroccan police at the entrance of the city of Guelemin, and forced to return to the occupied city of El Aaiun.
 
Activists are Sidi Mohamed Dadach, president of CODAPSO, Hmad Hamad, vice president of the same association, Bomba Lefkir and Feku Ibaihim, were detained to prevent from visiting the family of Brahim Saika, the young unionist and Saharawi activist who died on April 15 under police custody.

Brusels, April 24, 2014 (SPS) -  the Vice President of the Western Sahara Intergroup of the European Parliament, Mr. Fabio Massimo Castaldo, said yesterday  that "We are facing a situation where a country like Morocco is challenging the international law by illegally occupying another country", during a press conference with Saharawi Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek.

Madrid (Spain), April 20, 2016 (SPS) - Spanish group supporting Saharawi people has sent humanitarian aid to Saharawi refugee camps in Tindouf, said the organization's chairman, Maite Gimenez.
The support, the first this year, is made up of 23,000 kg of foodstuffs while the rest consists in toys, medicine and medical equipment, the source told El Correo de Burgos newspaper.
The aid, from the group based in the Spanish city of Burgos, includes three vehicles intended for the Saharawi ministries of Health and Cooperation, Gimenez noted.

Addis-Ababa, April 20, 2016 (SPS) - President of the African Union Commission (AU) Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma denounced the expulsion by Morocco of members of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), stressing that Rabat's decision is a "dangerous precedent."
Dalmini-Zuma sent a letter on 13 April to the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, in addition to the communiqué of the 588th meeting of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) on the situation in Western Sahara, the AU stated in a communiqué.

New York, April 19, 2016 (SPS) - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday urged the Security Council" to restore and support the mandated role" of the UN Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), following the staff cuts ordered by Morocco.
In a report to the Security Council, Ban Ki-moon said that the expulsion of MINURSO international civilian components, decided by Rabat, "can be expected to be exploited by terrorist and radical elements," and will have "significant implications for the stability of the region."
