President of Republic felicitates Algerian counterpart on Eid al-Fitr

“On behalf of the people and government of the Saharawi Republic (SADR), I am pleased to extend to Your Excellency and through you to Algeria as a whole, government and people, my sincere congratulation and best wishes on the blessed Eid al-Fitr,” writes President Mohamed Abdelaziz.

South African freedom fighter Patrick Balika passes away

Johannesburg, July 16, 2015 (SPS) - South Africa’s freedom fighter and friend of the Saharawi people, Patrick Balika, on Wednesday passed away after a long fight with disease in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.


Balika is the coordinator of the South African movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people and member of the African National Congress (SPS).


The deceased was known within trade union and human rights circles as a staunch advocate for the Saharawi cause.

Saharawi political prisoner goes on open hunger strike

Eit Melloul (Morocco), July 15, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi political prisoner, Brahim Al-Buhiti, began an open-ended hunger strike Wednesday in Eit Melloul Prison, Morocco, to demand the improvement of his living condition, said a source of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad.


The source said the prisoner was subject to torture and degrading treatment of human dignity at the hands of the prison’s officers.

SADR attached to African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance

Abidjan, July 15, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) on Wednesday expressed attachment to the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG).


Speaking during the meeting of the African Experts’ Committee on Democracy and Governance underway in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Saharawi delegate Mr. Hadi Kentawi renewed SADR’s adherence to the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG).

Saharawis continue to denounce the EU-Moroccan Fisheries Agreement

SADR attends meeting of African Committee on Democracy and Governance

Abidjan, July 14, 2015 (SPS) - The Saharawi Republic (SADR) participates in the meeting of the African Committee of Experts on Democracy and Governance, taking place in Abidjan, capital of Côte d'Ivoire, from 13 to 15 July 2015.


SADR is represented at the meeting by Mr. Hadi Kentawi, from the Political Organization Secretariat of the Polisario Front.


The meeting is attended by experts from more than 30 Africa states, in addition to the representatives of the African Union and its Commission. (SPS)

Only Referendum Will Solve Impasse Over Western Sahara (algerian ambassador)

Mayor of Le Mans offers dinner in honor of Saharawi children

Le Mans (France), July 12, 2015 (SPS) - The Mayor of Le Mans offered Saturday a dinner in honor of 12 Saharawi children and their two companions who arrived in Le Mans, France, to stay with families for two weeks in the framework of the "Holidays in Peace" program.

 

On this occasion, Mr. Omar Mansour, Polisario Front representative in France, thanked the city of Le Mans, its elected councilors and people for receiving the Saharawi.

 

Screening of new documentary on Western Sahara in Belgium

Brussels, July 11, 2015 (SPS) The Belgian Committee of Support to the Saharawi people, in partnership with Mundo B and Mundo J, screened a new documentary by Brazilian director Iara Lee titled" Life is Waiting: Referendum and Resistance in Western Sahara ".

 

In the presence of a new audience composed mainly of advocates of human rights and environment thanks to the collaboration of its partners in the event, the Committee could present the desires, hopes and aspirations of the Saharawi people living between exile and occupation for more 40 years.

POLISARIO welcomes Socialist International’s calling for just and lasting solution to Western Sahara conflict

New York, July 7, 2015 (SPS) - The Frente Polisario has welcomed the unanimous adoption by the Council of Socialist International (SI) of its mission report on Western Sahara, hailing its commitment to contribute to finding a just, peaceful and lasting to the conflict, said a statement of the Saharawi Ministry of Information, a copy of which obtained by SPS.

Morocco seems to have hacked UN computers with Hacking Team technologies

Chahid El Hafed, July 7, 2015 (SPS) .- Morocco seems to have used Hacking Team computer remote controle softwares to spy UN Sercretariat activities on the question of Western Sahara.


According to confidential documents, Morocco is the third largest customer and has disbursed over 3 million euros to Hacking Team. Of this amount, 1,19M euros for the DST, 1.93M euros for the CSDN (Supreme Council of National Defense, chaired by Mohammed VI).
