Johannesburg, July 16, 2015 (SPS) - South Africa’s freedom fighter and friend of the Saharawi people, Patrick Balika, on Wednesday passed away after a long fight with disease in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Balika is the coordinator of the South African movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people and member of the African National Congress (SPS).
The deceased was known within trade union and human rights circles as a staunch advocate for the Saharawi cause.
He organized several demonstrations outside Moroccan embassy in Pretoria to denounce Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara.
After defeating Apartheid system, Balika dedicated his life to support liberation movements in Africa, notably of which that of the Saharawi people. (SPS)
