Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds its annual conference

 Shaheed Elhafed (Refugee Camps), December 30, 2014 (SPS) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held Monday its annual conference, under the chairmanship of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, in presence of the SADR  ambassadors and the Polisario Front representatives.  

 

The conference continuous for three days and discusses the external work during the current year and draw strategies for the future.

 

Participants at 2nd annual conference of information express their solidarity with Saharawi political prisoners

 Shaheed ElHafed (refugee camps), December 30, 2014 (SPS) - The participants at the second annual conference of information expressed total solidarity with the Saharawi political prisoners still languishing in Moroccan prisons.

 

 In a statement read at the closing session of the conference, the participants called on the international community through all its organs and institutions, including those of human rights, in order to send an international medical mission to find out about the "alarming "situation of Saharawi political prisoners.

 

Sahrawi government condemns Crans Montana Forum’s decision to hold its session in occupied Dakhla

Shaheed Elhafed (refugee camps), December 30, 2014 (SPS) - The Sahrawi government condemned Crans Montana Forum’s decision to organize its 2015 session in the occupied Sahrawi city of Dakhla, calling the forum’s organizer to reconsider this serious decision.   

  

“This decision is a flagrant violation of the international law, a blatant aggression against the Sahrawi people and a contradiction with the principles and the objectives stated in the Crans Montana Forum,” said the Sahrawi government in a communiqué.

 

The group "scream against the wall" celebrates its second anniversary

Chahid El Hafedh (Saharawi refugee camps), Dec 29, 2014 (SPS)- The Saharawi youth group named "Scream against the wall" celebrated today its second anniversary, by organizing a peaceful sit-in before Moroccan wall of shame.

 


The sit-in condemned this wall which disperses Saharawi people and expressed solidarity with all Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan jails.

Opening of specialized seminar of Media

Transfer of Saharawi political prisoner to hospital in occupied El Aaiun

El Aaiun (occupied territories), Dec 28, 2014, (SPS)- The local authorities of Lakhal jail in occupied city of El Aaiun transferred on Thursday the Saharawi political prisoner Abedelkarim Bochelka, to the hospital , after the deterioration of his health, according to a Saharawi human right source.

 

The source added that the family of Bochelka said “that her son suffers from serious health complications and has been transferred three times to the hospital”

 

Moroccan authorities prevent peaceful pause in occupied city of El Aaiun

Occupied El Aaiun, Dec 27, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation authorities prevented last Thursday, a group of Sahrawi mothers from organizing a peaceful pause in front of the Court of Appeal in occupied city of El Aaiun, in order to demand Moroccan state to disclose the fate of their sons abducted since December 25, 2005.

 

Ministry of Information organizes annual seminar of media

The preparatory committee said “that it has completed everything  before the start of the works of the seminar”.

 

Trial of Sahrawi political prisoners postponed

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), December 25, 2014 (SPS) - The Court of Appeal in the occupied city of El Aaiun postponed Wednesday the trial of a group of Saharawi political prisoners followed up on temporary release, according to sources of the Ministry of Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.  

 

 Those are concerned include Mohamed Ali Essady, Yusef Buzed, Mohamed Karnid, Yesin Sidati, Aziz Hramech and Elhafed Tubali.

 

Wilaya of Boujdour hosts act of solidarity with Cuba

 Boujdour (Refugee Camps), December 25, 2014 (SPS) - The Wilaya of Boujdour, Sahrawi refugee camps, hosted Tuesday an act of solidarity with the Republic of Cuba, on the occasion of the opening of diplomatic relations with the US.

 

 The event was attended in addition of the authorities of the wilaya by members of the National Secretariat of the Frente POLISARIO and SADR Government, as well as the Cuban missions present at the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

Establishment of parliamentary group of friends of Western Sahara at Norwegian Parliament

 Oslo (Norway) December 24, 2014 (SPS) - The establishment of a parliamentary group of friends of Western Sahara at the Norwegian Parliament was announced Tuesday, with the aim of contributing to the defense of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

 

 According to a statement of the Polisario Front representation in Norway, this new group consists of a dozen of parliamentarians from five political parties (Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Christian Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the Socialist Left Party).

HRW asks for release of Sahrawi activist Mbarek Daoudi

Rabat, December 23, 2014 – Moroccan authorities should release a Sahrawi activist who has been held awaiting trial for more than 15 months, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a statement on Monday.  

 

“If Morocco has evidence of criminal wrongdoing against Mbarek Daoudi, the authorities should try him fairly and without further delay before a civilian court,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East and North Africa director of Human Rights Watch. “In the meantime, they should release Daoudi.”

 

Constitution of parliamentary committee for Western Sahara in East Timor

Dili (East Timor), December 22, 2014 (SPS) - The National Parliament of the Republic of East Timor adopted unanimously on Monday in Dili the creation of a parliamentary committee for Western Sahara, according to a statement of the SADR Embassy in Dili.

 

 “This decision is an important step in the right direction for the promotion of bilateral relations for the benefit of the aspirations of the two peoples and the two countries, the SADR and East Timor,” said the statement.

 

President of Republic congratulates Tunisian President-elect

Birlehlu (Liberated Territories), December 23, 2014 (SPS) - President of Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz, has congratulated the Tunisian President-elect, Mohamed Beji Caid Essebsi, on winning the presidential elections on Sunday.

 

In a letter following the announcement of his winning, the president of the Republic offeredthe warmest congratulations on behalf of the people and the government of the Sahrawi Republic to the President-elect and through him to the Tunisian people and government.   

 

Saharawi political prisoner Mbarek Daoudi suspends hunger strike

Salé (Morocco), December 22, 2014 (SPS) -Saharawi political prisoner Mbarek Daoudi decided Sunday to suspend "temporarily" his unlimitted hunger strike, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Saharawi Community Abroad.

 

 The protest was initiated more than 7 weeks ago in the Moroccan prison of Salé against his arbitrary detention, the repeated postponement of his trial and torture and ill-treatment he suffered in prison.

 

Western Sahara, last African colony, says Washington Post

Washington (USA), December 22, 2014 (SPS) - Western Sahara is the last colony in Africa, wrote the American daily Washington Post in an illustrated report of many pictures entitled “A line in the sand: Fighting 40 years of exile in the desert of Western Sahara.”

 

"A territory about the size of United Kingdom that stretches out along the Atlantic Ocean between Morocco and Mauritania, Western Sahara is technically the last African colony — it never gained its independence when Spain decamped in 1975,” said the daily in its report published recently.

President of Republic receives Honorary Doctorate

Australia Western Sahara Association organizes protest against Incitec Pivot

Melbourne (Australia), December 19, 2014 (SPS) - Australia Western Sahara Association (AWSA) organized Thursday in Melbourne protest in front of the seat where the Australian company Incitec Pivot annual general assembly was held, said a statement of the Polisario Front representation in Australia.  

 

 The supporters of the Saharawi people addressed the looting of phosphate carried out by the Australian company Incitec Pivot in complicity with the Moroccan regime.
