WSRW condemns Kosmos Energy drilling in Western Sahara waters

London, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- the Western Sahara Resource Watch has condemned Kosmos Energy drilling in the waters of Western Sahara, in a press release published Sunday morning on its website, after The oil platform ‘Atwood Achiever' has entered late Saturday night the waters of occupied Western Sahara.

 


“Kosmos Energy is to undertake the first drilling in Western Sahara ever. It is hard to imagine a more brutally unethical oil drilling, anywhere in the world”, WSRW stated.

 

Moroccan drugs “real threat” for peace, security in region, says the President

Algiers, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- Drugs coming from Morocco represent a “real threat” for peace and security in the region and in the world said, Saturday in Algiers, the President of the republic Mohamed Abdelaziz, recalling that the kingdom is the “biggest” producer and exporter of cannabis.

 

Polisario delegation participates in the International Socialist meeting

Geneva, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- A delegation from the polisario Front participated Friday to Saturday in the meeting of the International Socialist held in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

The Saharawi delegation held meetings with participated delegations such as South African and Namibian, who emphasied the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people, the implementation of the UN resolution “1415”, the resolution passed in the recommendation of the International Socialist meeting in 2012 in South Africa.

EMHRN denounces "Moroccan repeated attacks" against human rights organizations

Brussels, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) denounced "the Moroccan repeated attacks" against the human rights organizations, including in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

 

In an open letter to EU-Morocco Association Council, to be held on December 16, the EMHRN condemned "the repeated attacks inflicted to human rights organizations, including in the Western Sahara, calling for "putting an end" to arbitrary arrests during peaceful demonstrations" of Sahrawi people.

 

Pierre Galand denounces Morocco’s attempts to buy international community’s silence

Algiers, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- President of the Coordination of European Committees and Associations for Support of the People of Western Sahara “EUCOCO” Pierre Galand, denounced Saturday in Algiers Morocco’s attempts to “buy” the silence of the international community.

 

“We denounce the illegal attempts of Morocco to buy the silence of the international community regarding the Sahrawi issue,” said Galand in the 5th International Conference of Algiers on “people’s right to resistance: case of Sahrawi people.”

 

Spanish delegation in a visit to Saharawi refugee camps

Chahid Al Hafed, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- A Spanish delegation from the regional government of Galicia, headed by vice-president Mr.Alonso Rueda,has begun on Saturday morning a first official visit to the Saharawi refugee camps.

 

The Spanish delegation will hold, during the visit, meetings with Sahrawi officials and visit institutions and facilities, as well as, to find out about the situation in the Sahrawi refugee camps and how they could provide a support.

 

SPS accredits new correspondent in Abuja

Polisario Front welcomes EP ratification of establishment of Intergroup for Western Sahara

Brussels, December 12, 2014 (SPS) - Minister and Polisario Front representative for Europe, Mohamed Sidati, welcomed Thursday in Brussels the ratification by the European Parliament of the formal establishment of the Intergroup on Western Sahara.

 

"Members of the world's largest parliament have shown once again their commitment to uphold the principles of the European Union: democracy, freedom and respect for human rights," Sidati said in a statement.

 

East Timor reiterates full support to Saharawi cause

Political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group on hunger strike

Polisario Front welcomes European Parliament ratifying formal intergroup on Western Sahara

Brussels, December 11, 2014 (SPS) – Mr. Mohamed Sidati, Minister and Representative of the Frente Polisario to  Europe,  welcomed  Thursday the  Conference  of  Presidents  decision  to  ratify  the creation of a formal intergroup on Western Sahara.

Mr Sidati said, “members of the largest Parliament in the world once again showed their commitment to championing the principles the European Union professes to hold - those of democracy, freedom and respect of human rights”.

Western Sahara: Tactical military maneuver in Sahrawi liberated territories

Aghwinit (Liberated Territories), December 11, 2014 (SPS) - A tactical project of military maneuver was carried out in the zone of Aghwinit, in the 7th Sahrawi military region in the presence of President of the Republic, Secretary General of Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz.

 

The maneuver, also attended by Sahrawi Defence Minister Mohamed Amine Ould El-Bouhali and marked by the participation of three military regions (1st, 3rd and 7th), started with review of military staff and presentation of tactical project of opposing defences breakthrough.

Western Sahara conflict requires stronger" international action, says AU

Oran (Algeria), December 11, 2014 (SPS) - Director of the Peace and Security Department (PSD) at the African Union (AU) El Ghassim Wane said Wednesday in Oran, Algeria, that Western Sahara issue required a "stronger" international action.

 

Noting "no significant progress was made in the search for a solution" to Western Sahara conflict, El Ghassime Wane stressed the need for "much stronger action" to settle the issue.

 

International community must redouble efforts to resolve Saharawi issue, stresses Lamamra

Oran, December 11, 2014 (SPS) -Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra called on Thursday in Oran the international community to redouble efforts to resolve the issue of Western Sahara in accordance with the law and international resolutions.

 

"It is imperative, in 2015, the Saharawi issue gets out of the rut it is in. In this regard, we must redouble our efforts to achieve this goal," said the minister, at a press briefing at the end of the works of the 2nd seminar on Peace and security in Africa.

 

Moroccan authorities prevent Brazilian activists from entering Saharawi occupied territories

El Aaiun (occupied territories) December 9, 2014 (SPS) - The Moroccan occupation authorities prevented Monday Brazilian activist Pedro Feraciu FROM entering the occupied city of El Aaiun, according to the Ministry of Occupied Territory and Community.

 

 Pedro was questioned by Moroccan security agents on the purpose of his visit to the occupied territories of Western Sahara, where he was subjected to ill-treatment, added the same source.

 

Polisario Front carries out military maneuvers in southern sector

Aguinit (Liberated Territories), December 10, 2014 (SPS) – The Polisario Fronthas conducted a military maneuvers Mondayin the southern regions in the framework of the national alert plan put forth by the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front.

 

The maneuvers were under the supervision of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the forces of Sahrawi People's liberation Army (SPLA), Mohamed abdelaziz, accompanied by theMinister of Defence, Mohamed Lamine Bouhali and the military Staff.

 

Algerian foreign minister bemoans recurring obstacles to self-determination process in Western Sahara

Oran (Algeria), December 9, 2014 (SPS)  – Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, bemoaned Tuesday in Oran, the obstacles that hamper the process of organization of the self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people.

 

"The many obstacles hampering the holding of Western Sahara self-determination referendum have repeatedly deadlocked this process, "said Lamamra, in an opening address to the second high-level seminar on peace and security in Africa.
