President Abdelaziz calls on Sahrawi people to adhere to alert plan established by Polisario Front

Liberated Territories, December 9, 2014 (SPS) - Sahrawi President and Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz called on Monday, in the Sahrawi liberated territories, the Sahrawi people to fully adhere to the national alert plan drawn up by the front’s secretariat. 

 

Speaking at the closing of the seminar on southern communities, Sahrawi president said that “this meeting is one of the stages of this national alert plan which doesn’t concern only the national army but involves all the components of the Sahrawi society.”

 

SADR takes part in first African Forum on Statistics in Tunis

Tunis, December 8, 2014 (SPS) - The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) took part in the first African Forum on Statistics held in Tunis December 8-12.

 

The program will include a number of workshops, meetings and conferences about the experiences of some African countries in relation to statics in development.

 

The Saharawi delegationis chaired by the Director of the Central Statistics, Mr. Bera Hnini, where he took the opportunity to meet with several delegations on the sidelines of the forum.

 

Norwegian Liberal Party calls to halt exploration and drilling in Western Sahara

Oslo (Norway), December 9, 2014 (SPS) - The Executive Committee of the Liberal party in Norway adopted Sunday a motion calling foreign companies to stop all exploration activities and oil drilling off the shore of Western Sahara, stressing that investors through these activities, encourage and legitimize the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.

 

Mozambique reiterates unconditional support for struggle of Saharawi people

Maputo (Mozambique), December 9, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Mozambican Parliament (Assembly of the Republic), Veronica Macamo, reiterated the support of her country to the struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and independence, following a reception to the Ambassador of the Saharawi Republic in Maputo, Mr. Wadadi Ahmed .

 

Ms.  Macamo reiterated the commitment of Mozambique to defense, more than ever, the inalienable right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and national independence.

 

Polisario Front participates in 6th congress of ZANU-PF

Harare, December 9, 2014 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation led by the Minister of State for Africa, Hamdi Boueha, took part in the work of the sixth congress of the ruling ZANU-PF party, which was held from December 5-7, in Harare , according to Sahrawi diplomatic sources in Zimbabwe.

 

"Between borders," documentary on Brazilian channel "Futura" exposes Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara

Brasilia, Dec 07, 2014, (SPS)- The Brazilian channel “Futura” has broadcasted on Friday, a documentary on Western Sahara produced and directed by Luís Nachbin, which exposes Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara.

 


The documentary tells the story of the trip of Luís Nachbint to the occupied city of El Aaiun, the capital of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, and how the Saharawi people live in the occupied territories under Moroccan occupation.

 

President of Republic felicitates Kenyatta on ICC acquittal

Bir-lehlu (liberated territories), Dec 07, 2014, (SPS)- the president of the republic Mohamed Abdelaziz, felicitated Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta, after the ICC Prosecutor withdrew charges against him on Friday 5th December 2014, in a letter sent Sunday morning.

 


The president expressed, On his personal name and on behalf of the Saharawi people and government, his heartfelt congratulations for the ICC's withdrawal of the case against Uhuru Kenyatta.

 

Norwegian party calls for the decolonization of Western Sahara

Oslo (Norway), December 6, 2014 (SPS) - The Congress of the Norwegian Centre Party Youth adopted a resolution calling on the government of his country to play a key role in ending the illegal occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco .

 

 Recalling the stages of the struggle of the Saharawi people, the resolution condemned the continuing illegal Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara, adding that the obstacles posed by Morocco prevent the holding of a referendum on self-determination of the Saharawi people by the international community.

 

Conference at University of Bologna on Saharawi question

 Forli (Bologna), Dec. 6, 2014 (SPS) - The prestigious University of Bologna hosted an important conference Friday Sahrawi issue entitled "The EU and the United Nations in dealing with crisis and conflict: the case of Western Sahara "in the light of international law and the policies of the European Union.

 

Theconference was attended by representatives of the European Parliament, the UN and the African Union in addition to the experts and professors of this university.

 

Namibia demands the implementation of resolution 1514 on Western Sahara

Windhoek (Namibia), Dec 07, 2014, (SPS) – Namibian minister of foreign affairs Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has demanded the implementation of  resolution 1514 on Western Sahara, during a meeting with the diplomatic corps accredited to Namibia.

 


“We do not understand why the UN does not want to commit itself and insure the implementation of the resolution 1514 on Western Sahara” Namibian minister of foreign affairs said.

 

Polisario Front delegation took part in meeting of Progressive Alliance

Lisbon, December 6, 2014 (SPS) -  A delegation of the Polisario Front took part in the meeting of the Progressive Alliance held December 4-5, in Lisbon in the presence of many Socialists and Democrats parties, international organizations and social political figures representing four continents.

 

The meeting discussed several topics including decent work, education, equality between sexes, international cooperation and election campaigns, current economic and political crises and security in many countries of the world.

Morocco challenged by European Parliament on human rights abuse in Western Sahara

Brussels, December 6, 2014 (SPS) - Morocco was challenged once again, by the European Parliament on human rights abuse in the occupied Saharawi territories.

 

In a statement received by APS Friday, the European Parliament noted that several non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as Human Rights Watch (HRW), "reported several testimonies on abuses and torture as the case of Mohammed Dihani."

 

Trade Minister attends 9th conference of AU Ministers of Trade

Addis Ababa, Dec 4, 2014 (SPS) - Minister of Trade Mr. Abida Cheickh takes part at 9th Ordinary Session of the African Union Conference of Ministers of Trade, opened on Monday at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


The minister is accompanied by Mr. Lamine Baali, ambassador in Ethiopia and permanenet representative to the AU, Nguia Zrug, trade expert, and Maria Saila, from diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa.

UPES deplores unfair judgment against Saharawi journalist

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Dec 4, 2014 (SPS) - Saharawi Journalists and Writers’ Union (UPES) on Thursday denounced the verdict pronounced Wednesday by a Moroccan court against Mahmud Al-Haissan, Saharawi blogger and activist.


UPES described as baseless the trial against Al-Haissan, adding that the judgments pronounced by Moroccan court against him were merely of a political nature.

Embassy in Algiers offers condolences to Numidia News Channel

Algiers, Dec 4, 2014 (SPS) - Embassy of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) on Thursday presented, on behalf the Saharawi people and government, its condolences to staff of the Algerian private TV channel Numidia News, following the passing away of the latter’s general director, Samer Ryad.


The embassy noted with appreciation the role played by Ryad in supporting just cause around the world, notably the question of Western Sahara. (SPS)

Austrian Socialist Party continues advocating for recognition of SADR

Vienna, Dec 4, 2014 (SPS) - Austrian Socialist Party has approved a motion affirming the party’s commitment to continue working so that Austria recognizes the Saharawi Republic (SADR), said Polisario Front representation to Vienna.


Approved at the end of 43th congress of the Socialist Party of Austria, the motion urged Austrian government to establish diplomatic relations with SADR.

Algeria for self-determination referendum in Western Sahara under UN aegis

Algiers, Dec 3, 2014 (SPS) - Prime Minister of Algeria, Abdelmalek Sellal, voiced his country’s support to a referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people under the supervision of the United Nations, reaffirming that Algeria’s position towards the decolonization process in Western Sahara remains “consistent and clear.”

President of Republic felicitates president-elect of Uruguay
